Village Owl 03-09-2009, 21:52 I'll be there, and can offer lifts to three people fron Eccallsall Road, bottom of the moor, London Road area's. Let me know folks if you'd like one.
Not sure if we can make this one now due to the early start & having to battle through traffic.:( Will look up route, do some calculations & let you know.
Pity cos this was the only walk this month we could do:(

There won't be any traffic for you to battle through . All you need to do is avoid Park Square, which means cutting across to Manor Top from your end, and either going via Parkway/M1, or carrying on thro Darnall,Tinsley,Kimberworth,Thorpe Hesley. This is why I chose this walk, cos it's easy to get to.

From where we live, yes, not a problem.
But if I go, I'm picking people up & therefore the route is through Park Square, which is where we have to avoid. As I said, I will do some calculations & get back.......
I've put back the start time of this walk by an hour to give people who might be affected by the traffic disruptions to get to the walk a bit more easily.

Wouldnt it be easier for the people you are picking up to get on the train? Saves you having to drive through Sheffield....just a thought
Agent Orange 04-09-2009, 11:41 Park Square will be accessible, but two lanes will be closed. Not sure how much traffic will be around there, but there are other routes if coming through city in which you can avoid the Park Square roundabout.
Anyway, I am still coming to this even though my street is friggin closed :D
Sorted it out now - we are going. Can give Zippy a lift & now a later time there are no probs getting Mr Hemlock out of bed in time!:hihi:
Thanks Bruno for the offer of a lift . Just let me know the time you setting off

aw bless you xx
We have 2 places left if anyone can make thier way to Chapeltown
Confirming so far Bruno, Mrs DJ, anne d
I've got room for 2 people who might need lifts anywhere between Wadsley Bridge and Elsecar. I assume AO is fixed up now, but if not we can sort something out. Also, maybe the Ecclesfield Shambler would like a lift?
In response to Bruno - there was a time when lots of people used to get on our walks by public transport, but despite us trying to arrange walks that are easy for non-car users to get to, it seems there aren't any public transport users any more. We'll keep trying though!
Village Owl 04-09-2009, 15:07 I've still got room for three people from town centre area.
Just to confirm, we will be bringing Hemlock, Mr Hemlock, Zippy & Lothse (if he lets me know where to pick him up:D)

Nope, we are far more appealing:D

Congratulations, mrp. I hope she is well and no doubt we will hear about her when you next come on a walk :)
Enjoy yourselves folks :) I never did make it up Kinder, got to the Edale car park today and couldn't even see the top due to the low cloud, did 10 miles around Derwent and Howden Reservoirs instead. Catch you all soon.

Hi
mum loves it there thanks for the birthday wishes by the way on face book I'm surprised people know when it is some ones birthday.
It tells you when a birthday is coming up:wink:
Great company, and a welcome to our newbie Lohtse, was one of the best places we've been to, but hey what a fab end of that bit of bother at the heritage center which made it worthwhile, I've played around with the following pics to enhance them a bit Elsecar (http://www.brunosentertainments.co.uk/elsecar.htm)
Well, a walk with a bit of a difference today. SF decided to send in the troops to lick the Shamblers into shape - photos are here!! (http://picasaweb.google.com/paulinezel/Elsecar#):D
Welcome to our newbie lothse - you weren't joking about MR T. kit were you?!? Kitted out for WW3 I'd say! Although I think the comment that you were like Arnold Schwarzenegger in 'Kindergarten' was pretty good :hihi:
Steady stroll was enjoyed by all today in the Barnsley countryside. Or were we in Rotherham? Or perhaps we were in Sheffield even :suspect:. Anyway, wherever we were, there was lots of fun and laughter today, especially at the WW2 re-enactment at Elsecar Heritage Centre at the end. Those poor Germans, week-in week-out, they lose every time!
14 lovely people today, well, 13 and me, who were Village Owl, Hemlock, Mr Hemlock, Anne D, Bruno, Mrs DJ, Zippydedoodah, Lohtse, Snow Don, Billysmum, Gudigobla, Gudigobmum, Scoobz, Jayemm
Village Owl 06-09-2009, 20:11 An enjoyable walk today in great company as usual, thanks everyone for a lovely day and the chance to clear my head. Welcome to our newest walker Lohste, hope to see you again on another walk soon. It was also nice to see two or three that haven't been out with us for a while. The battle re-inactment was a good way to round off the day.
Great photo's everyone.
billysmum 06-09-2009, 21:13 I loved chatting to the two handsome gentleman in their 1940's uniform:thumbsup:. I would have been quite happy to stay at Elsecar all day, but We were there to walk. Not the best walk today but enjoyable non the less. I managed to see the church where my Great Great Grandfather was babtised in :) It was nice to sit in the church grounds for our dinner, thanks to Lohtse for the chocolate .
