View Full Version : Do you agree with personal trainers? buckz623 02-09-2009, 19:30 I am getting the vibe that many people dont agree with what personal trainers do and that you dont get what your paying for, I'd be interested to here your views and opinions on this subject SiSiSi 02-09-2009, 20:10 Surely it's a personal choice. If you choose to 'employ' a PT then you choose to pay the going rate? buckz623 02-09-2009, 20:12 yes that is very true Si, but some people see it in a different way unfortunatly, as a personal trainer myself and from speaking to various people i just want to see what the general feel about it all is SiSiSi 02-09-2009, 20:32 In a nutshell most people want summat for nowt. Human nature I guess! Wroughton 02-09-2009, 20:43 Hi Buckz. To be honest I think some of the negativity you have encountered here was because of the following. 24 Aug 13.45- you state price £90 for 12 sessions on bootcamp 25 Aug 11.18- you change that to £30 for 12 sessions. Which put people's backs up I feel because to cut the price in 3 after a day either says you made a mistake or you were charging too much. As far as trainers go if you can afford them they do a good job. Its motivating to know someone is checking on your progress and they can push you harder than you think you are capable at times. The problem as far as I can see is threefold. Firstly a motivated person can already push themself. Second the cost is large (for me for example a martial arts lesson has been a fiver and a golf lesson £15). Third there isnt much they can show you (training methods/exercises/programmes) that you cant crib straight off the internet. With the economy being what it is to be honest its something I could cut fairly easily and not miss too much. This is only my opinion and of course others will disagree. chem1st 02-09-2009, 20:45 I'd spend about £20 on a pair of trainers. Shering them isn't my thing :gag: buckz623 02-09-2009, 20:48 wroughton, thanks for ya feedback, it was a mistake with £90, after i read over it i realized it thats why it was changed, to the rest of what you say that is true and alot of the time it is a motivation problem that people have chefkicker 02-09-2009, 20:57 I am getting the vibe that many people dont agree with what personal trainers do and that you dont get what your paying for, I'd be interested to here your views and opinions on this subject Personally most people will be willing to pay something like £20 or £25 not much more than that really. What works well is the 2 on one instead of one on one. That way someone can train with a friend or family member. I find it works really well. Wroughton 02-09-2009, 21:50 Buckz, I have re-read my post and hope that didnt come over too harshly. I didnt mean it to. I thought you might have made a mistake and you corrected it straight away. In fairness aswell I looked up the price of bootcamps and you are right they are more expensive than even the first price you put up there. Especially from trainers down in London. I think its just a tough time and I say that with a mate of mine being a PT. Folks not joining or renewing at the gym and I've noticed loads more people out jogging in the park or out on the road. Its a conundrum because I feel personal trainers can work and do a good job (my sis in law used one before her wedding). They can provide loads of motivation, guidance on diet/lifestyle/training methods that would save the average guy a lot of time and misguided effort. Like Farhad says probably 2 on one is the best way. Half-ish the cost and still getting a lot of attention from the trainer Shef_Fitness 03-09-2009, 09:44 I think you just got to go for it. If you believe in what you do. and your customers are happy with the outcomes of the training, then thats all that matters. |
