Takara is, she's 2. Her's was probably spay related though.

Propalin sorts it out - 3 times a day, doesn't work out that expensive either as she doesn't need loads of it :)

It could, however, be an underlying condition - infection or more sinister. My aunt's GSD recently developped incontinence and it turned out to be bladder cancer. :(

I doubt it is anything that serious but definitely needs checking out to ensure there's nothing serious going on.

Be prepared though, Takara's tests cost a fortune :(

It is probably cystitis, sometimes they also scent mark their resting places :( it would definitely be worth checking out though I think, take her to the PDSA mummysaz21 you have had an awful lot of outlay lately.

Can't you get help from PDSA? I thought you were entitled to it? You don't ususally use their services so I'm sure once wouldn't hurt.

I wouldn't want to leave it 4 weeks... purely because if it's an infection, it'll be sore, if it's just general incontinence she could end up with urine burns (make sure you clean her off if she's been laid in it) but if it is serious, a tumour can grow a lot in 4 weeks...

I think we just binned a load of incontinence pads that I used to have for Takara :(

Fingers crossed it's just an infection - they will do a dipstick test first and if it is, get anti biotics and no need for further tests...

Good luck :)

Even if it is cystitis it is a horrible thing as you will know if you ever had it, yes just bite the bullet and take her to PDSA money doesn't go on forever for any of us :)

Mummysaz - the pdsa is there to be used for this sort of stuff. They are a wealthy (ish) charity and its there to help people like u - so use it.

I get really miffed that their slogan is

FOR PETS IN NEED OF VET

Well no it isn't - its for 'PEOPLE ON LOW INCOME - WHO HAVE PETS IN NEEDS OF VETS' and it disgusts me that their slogan is misleading to the donating public who give money to them.

They do not help pets in need - only pets who BELONG to people who are in need - so use them.

My belief is that a charity that begs money from people making them believe they help all pets in need is deceptive - and I don't know how they get away with it from the trading standards.

Lotti is right - it could be just a basic urine infection - but if its not that - try a course of propalin - or a herb for incontinence - you don't want that around when u have your house and young child.

Sorry the bills are so high - so many pets get dumped because people genuinely can't afford to pay them.
Good luck

I agree Rain.

I experienced their 'helpfullness' when I found a dog out of hours. Drove all the way over to the PDSA as I knew they'd be open and rang the bell at the door to ask if we could have a dog scanned for a chip (bearing in mind, I did this when I worked at Broomhill so we didn't need to disturb a vet) and the receptionist made a big hoohah about letting us in.

Finally she okayed it and opened the door and we took the little dog in. They scanned her and she was chipped but said they couldn't call because Petlog would be closed!!

I was pretty sure they were manned 24/7 but didn't know well enough to argue so we ended up leaving and taking her home.

Ridiculous, they just couldn't be bothered.

I was disgusted when we took out a dog from a pound that had been run over during Easter. The kennels had paid for it to have its leg removed - The PDSA had held it for 3 days on pain killers as nobody was there to 'own' it.

The other dog involved - we took out and paid for his leg to be removed.

I'm sure they help lots of owned pets, and help people too - but on the charity commission website - their own saying says that they help pets - well 'not exactly' but obviously thats not in their advertising blurb that its 'selective' is it.
