Anyone know a decent, relatively clean swimming pool within easy walking distance of Nether Edge? I had been using S10, but that's a bit out of the way now. I hear there's one around the Broadfield area. I'm looking to do some gentle exercise, I'm not in need of anything of olympic proportions.

There's one on Broadfield Road, that is correct.
It's approximately behind the Abbeydale Picture Palace (the "disused" cinema) on broadfield road itself
Just go down the side- road, that's beside Shah's continental grocer, (which is just by the picture palace) and turn left at the bottom of that small hill...
That'll bring you out at the baths itself, ok?

The one on Broadfield Road is called Heeley Swimming Baths.

Not sure when you go to Heeley, but on a morning (7 to 9) there are fewer people in the pool than in a single lane at Ponds Forge at the same time of day - and no kids. Heeley is a box standard old fashioned pool with no Jacuzzi's, Whirlpools or Posers. There are proper changing rooms and also old fashioned changing rooms around the sides though these just make it quicker getting in and out if you want to use them.
i wonder if there any particualr dayss/time set 4 different people to be able to swim?
eg do they have sessions 4 men only, women only, kids?

Get yourself down to Heeley Baths and get a timetable of when it's open as it is very complicated. However, once the little angels are back at school it should be easier. I go twice a week and it's usually fine. See if you can go when it lists an 'aquababes' session. About 1/5 of the pool is roped off and you have to put up with the kiddies tunes but often there's only 3 or 4 of us just trogging up and down and 4/5's of the pool is probably enough for what you say you want. Yes it's very old fashioned but what's wrong with that, better than all those lycra clad nonces getting whiplash everytime they walk past a mirror in some corporate soulless vast hall.
As I said try it after the school hols too as it is a bit infested with bratlets until then.
Learned to swim at Heeley Baths anyone remember Mr. Wall?
Great memories of diving and fun and trips from Woodseats School and Abbeydale Grange...also the Lido in Millhouses Park ..brings it all back. it was under threat a few years ago but it's a top pool with no pretensions at all. Shame about the opening hours at weekends though.
