I use tablets for my adult cats and have some paste in currently (only 3 tubes) but wondered if anyone had used the liquid form at all, particularly for kittens and how sucessful it was if you did?

Moonbird 01-09-2009, 19:08 I use tablets for my adult cats and have some paste in currently (only 3 tubes) but wondered if anyone had used the liquid form at all, particularly for kittens and how sucessful it was if you did? I had some for the pups and kittens I think, it definitely wasn't a paste it was sort of milky stuff, it was fine you gave it via a little pipette, they do get it everywhere though and don't like the taste, so you usually have babies with a white tash and beard, and you looking like you have been painting with the most splashy roller in the world :hihi: sezbetz 01-09-2009, 19:23 lol similar to the paste then by the sounds of it!! Its just (and I may be wrong here) working out the doesage and cost of each the liquid seems cheaper. I may get some in then unless anyone wants to offer a differing view? Just want to make sure I have enough to worm everything!! lol HenHugger 01-09-2009, 20:23 I've used it with success when fostering ferals, incl feral kittens. I just coat the food with it and down it goes. Works well on tuna for the fussier ones. If feeding more than one I totalled up the amount due and put it all on over one or two bowls; generally the bigger cats would eat more of it anyway. And if in doubt I'd repeat the dose a few days later. A lot easier than trying to get tablets in them! sezbetz 01-09-2009, 20:35 A lot easier than trying to get tablets in them! I wasnt going to use tablets never fear!! I have troubl enough with the adult cats with those!! Medusa had recommended the paste which I have but think I may give the liquid a go too so I know I have enough in. Thanks Moonbird and Henhugger for the advice :) Rainrescue 01-09-2009, 23:03 Yep - I think loads use the panacur liquid. Much gentler and easier for the youngsters as anything with a potential heavy burden (even older animals like horses / dogs or cats) the panacur 5 day wormer is gentler. I have known many animals die from being wormed if they have a heavy burden and are wormed in one go. Order them from petmeds or hyperdrug - much cheaper. *Peaches* 02-09-2009, 07:35 I'm hoping to order some in the next week, Panacur and Advocate. I'll let you know where I find it cheapest? sezbetz 02-09-2009, 10:02 OK both are safe for kittensbut would people suggest the 10% or the 2.5% or will it not matter - obviously I realise the dosage differs though :) Peaches I have been looking online and so far vetuk have been the best that I have found.... will post prices later if you havent beaten me to it! sezbetz 02-09-2009, 10:23 http://www.wormers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Dog___Cat_Wormers_16.html beeston Beston are the cheapest I have found so far and I have used them before - usually very quick delivery http://www.vetuk.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=17_43&products_id=1126 vet uk http://www.petdispensary.co.uk/panacur-suspension-4057-0.html pet dispensary cheapest I have found so far carpetviper 02-09-2009, 12:22 I use it all the time on snakes and lizards it is the best for what we require and tropical worms and parasites can be hard to get rid of. vizsla 03-09-2009, 05:23 I use Panacur 10% liquid for all my kittens or puppy needs. its easy to use in a tiny mouth and is effective so does the job. sezbetz 03-09-2009, 17:58 Thanks vizsla - think I may go for the 10%. HenHugger 03-09-2009, 18:03 would make sense to use the higher concentration, then you need to use less of it, and if putting it on food as I do it won't taint it as much taste-wise. sezbetz 03-09-2009, 19:22 it works out better cost wise too so yup am going to buy the 10%... thanks everyone :) |
