Hello Everyone,

we moved to Sheffield just recently and know nothing about the local dog training clubs/schools. I'm interested in competititive obedience, HWTM, SAR, agility, schutzhund; virtually anything will do - just want to have some "serious" fun - regular activity with my dog. Tried to google local clubs but mainly found pet obedience classes; courses designed for helping with the very basics which is not what we are after.

Has anyone any idea about what regular dog activities we might be able to find in Sheffield and who to contact?

Thanks a lot

Hi :)

If you find somewhere that does HWTM or canine freestyle PLEASE let me know!

There are a couple of flyball clubs operating in Sheffield and we already have a few threads on agility.

If you look down the left hand side of the page there is a link to 'search forums' and if you type 'agility' or 'flyball' into there, you should find some info :)

Sheffield Flyball Club has a starters course starting later this month near Dore/Whirlow Farm

The only KC reg agility club that I know of in this area is North Derbyshire Dog Agility Club (trains in Dronfield). Due to the popularity of agility and due to them trying to keep a sensible trainer-to-dog/handler ratio they usually have to restrict the number of new dogs that they take in by only accepting dogs/handlers that come via Animal Magic (based in Chesterfield). Like Golf Club membership, I'm sure they would look favourably on dogs/handlers who move into the area if they already compete regularly.

Thanks, it seems we have quite a job to find the right place.

Lotti, the only HWTM instructor I found in Sheffield is Linda Topliss, but she offers only demonstrations, training days and videos, nothing regular. I used to compete in canine freestyle so it occured to me that I could maybe try to organize something myself. The question is: would there be enough people interested?
