View Full Version : Sheffield - Cleethorpes by Train
angelgirluk 23-07-2005, 18:29 Does anyone have any information about the train that runs to Cleethorpes from/via Sheffield as I was really wanting to do something different tomorrow (Sunday) and have a change of scenery.
If anyone has any links to web sites etc, please post them for me. I've had a look but can't find much at all.
Thanks a lot,
Claire

Hello, I'm from Grimsby so know I fair amount about Cleethorpes! You can take a direct train about once every hour, it takes roughly and hour and a half depending on if you get the fast or slow. Very simple! Check the national rail site for details. There are lots of new fancey cafes that have opened up too as well as the usual ropey fish n chip places. Good to just wander along the sea front and nip into the arcades!

What's so bad about it?

The journey seemed to take forever, very depressing after you get past Doncaster, and I must mention those horrible slow, noisy uncomfortable sprinter/railbus trains. Although, things may have progressed since then. :D
The frequency of the trains was impressive though.

I use it often (Manchester Airport > Cleethorpes) but going t'other way!
Edit: I'm quite happy to read that they're getting some new trains in the Spring though :D http://www.railwayscene.co.uk/image.php?imgref=1472
We went monday and had no problems with trains.leave medowhall 17mins on hour and return on 39min past on hour from cleethorps and always been on time.and for £12.90 ret for me and £6.60 think it was for my kid ret was well worth the trip.and got buffet bar to in the day time on train.
We always go in school hoildays just for a day out sometimes once a week. as so easy to get to by train and you not walking arround all the time to get to station as its on sea front and always on time and cheap trip for us to go on.
