just wondering if anyone could recommend a camp site in the yorkshire dales? we're looking for something that's used more by ramblers and hikers rather than a holiday camp full of huge tents and kids playing football :)

we're only going for one night so we don't desperately need showers, but we would like decent clean toilet facilities. a traditional pub within close walking distance would be nice

we would like to stay around the wensleydale area, but would be interested to hear other recommendations as well

I have never camped in the Dales so unfortunately can't help. Hope one of the group knows a little more about that area and can offer their assistance.

The last 3 times I've been camping I've got the campsite from www.ukcampsite.co.uk. Ironically I've just got back today from camping on the edge of the dales near Howarth, but I don't think the campsite we stayed at would suit you! It's definitely aimed at families! It has the most fantastic toilet/shower blocks with piped music & radiators inside can you believe, and a club/restaurant on site! Mind you, now the summer hols have almost ended and the nights are drawing in, I don't think you're likely to see many kids about now anyway. Just one thing though. Why do you have a problem with kids? Weren't you once one yourself?
