we have plenty of options at centre half ,so the money would be useful ,rather than getting nowt for him in the summer

when we resigned tudgay, the money used was the cash earmarked to resign woods and spurr, but thier resigning was put on hold so we could resolve the tudgay situation(basically give the money in increased wages).
Wood and spurr are now due to be resigned in the january window instead of this one.

but will wood resign ? thats the problem . £800k is a lot of money to turn down and hope his signs a new contract . is it a gamble we can afford to take ?

if he dosnt sign in January -we wouldnt get anywhere near 800k as he would be free to speak to other teams at that point

Let Wood stay, 800 grand in football in this day and age get's carried around in player's car ashtray's.
We can't let him go anyway he's on a scoring run haha.

If Laws is confident that Richard Hinds can perform as he did last season, then we have enough cover at the back to let Woody go, if we can get rid of Jeffers today aswell then it would be interesting to see who we can get in as that would take some real pressure off the finanaces and LS wouldnt have to keep banging on about this 25,000 average gate (which we have hit so far btw!!)

From what I saw in the few games last season, Hinds performed better than Wood, so, with Beevers and Buxton also capable of playing there, I'd have no qualms at letting Wood go.
I'd want more than £800k though, like Corker said, some players spend this at Sainsburys every week.

Woody was a colossus on Saturday; admittedly against a very poor team; but one which could easily have snatched a point.

Where have we heard that before!

keep him, hes one of our better defenders and can also score goals from free kicks, corners etc with him being a big build. 800k is peanuts for him

who is Woods?

I know i was going to say the same, although there's plenty of people who seem to still call him Wood's lol.

He's already scored a few for you this season hasn't he, and were it not for splashing all your wad on Tudgay, you'd probably have renegotiated his deal already - so I don't think you can doubt his commitment too much. He could quite easily have moved to a club for better wages already.

Regarding your sig, i can remember Wednesday playing Alaves at Hillsborough a few years ago, i bought the Green Un that night and on the front it said Owls beat Euro Finalists, i wish i still had that lol.

Let him go I think that beevers could do the same job. With 800k we could almost sign Luke Varney, As Derby signed him for 1 million. And we need to sell somebody to bring some money in.

I remember that, although I did get more satisfaction from a league game where we travelled to the home of the reigning European Champions and beat them 2-0 :D
