I stopped to ask one of the cops earlier on, as i was a bit concerned(well you would be when it's on your doorstep), as i live about 2 mins from where all this is happening. was told that there was nothing to worry about at present, and to watch the local news later on

bomb squad on way to scene....suspected terrorist cell located in sheffield 5 according to local radio....advising people to stay off the streets...

Hi Markdp welcome to the forum, looks like a lot of police and attention for "nowt going on" think that is a bit of a stock answer for mind your own business, but as things are at the moment people are more concerned about things that are happening and as such I for one would like to know if a security alert or situation that could affect me or my family is happening in the area where i am or where i live.

rumor on the streets is that a person has been stabbed, murdered, and run over. more info i guess will be released later

Can we assume a very un-funny wind up?

If Mr Bin Laden does appear in cuffs, I'll apologise....but methinks you're tugging on our collective todger at the moment, InternetOwl?

Given how panicky people get, not exactly wise....

Just been down by tescos,,police everywhere some kind of tent now erected on herries place.

They seem to be covering a large area with bobbies all round Raisenhall, herries drive, herries rd, everingham raod andsurrounding areas.

but seriously it looks like they are trying to preserve a crime scene - not helped by the weather...

sorry about the Bin Laden jokes - people are twitchy enough

Just spoke to my brother who lives opposite the school on Raisenhall Rd. He says the police have been swarming all over for most of the day and there are now police officers camped out on the corners of the road.
He won't go out and ask what's happening though!

 Why would he want to go near an armed police officer in the current climate?

Why don't you ring 2202020 Vidster?
They are as likely to answer you as the police on the street.
I'm fairly certain they are a bit busy just now ;)

I know I'm the world's biggest busy body, but only if I think there's anything I can do to help - so if your brother is in the TA :D

Just been up to tesco and asked the police. They were shocked to know I found out about this on the internet and told me that it wasn't a bomb threat or anything like that. He said all he could tell us was that it was a 'Serious Crime'.

I saw many police vans and cars, and a white tent which was bright.

It has been confirmed on both calendar and look north that a 34 year old man has been arrested and is being questioned at Ecclesfield station, in connection with this murder. When I passed herries place earlier today, there was police tape cordoning off the area.In a way, it's just as well that this has happened now that the school is shut for the hols, being as it's right opposite, but even if that wasn't the case, the school would have probably been shut today anyway.

It is indeed closed to staff who would otherwise have come in.
