Hi,

In other towns I visit, I am quite happy to walk in to certain pubs/clubs on my own and not feel awkward, so it seems daft that I do feel awkward about doing this in my home town!

Can anyone reccomend lively city pubs/clubs here where women can do this and not feel like they stand out like a sore thumb, better still if people will talk to them?! (No, I don't mean slimey 8 armed fellas! lol)

Think i would feel happy going to most places on a quiet mid week night on my own for a drink. Feel as though I have done it a few times when waiting for VERY late friends. If I was to purposefully go out for a night alone, I'd probably choose somewhere like Wig & Pen, or maybe trippets.

Go to huiwei.co.uk it's a Bar & Restaurant plus it has a guy playing the piano so it's really nice to just sit & listen as i experienced last saturday as me & my girlfriend waited for the rest of our friends to arrive. You won't get funny looks either as i always get smiles when i go :)

Frog and Parrot, the most friendly pub in town, alone or in a group, any cocks get ejected straight away.

Good job they get ejected and not ejaculated... or you'd have all the cocks in!

I would suggest the Devonshire Cat. A bit pricey but some lovely brews on tap, friendly bar staff and fairly decent regular punters.

Why would a woman go out to a bar on her own if she doesn't want to get chatted up?

Why would a woman go out to a bar on her own if she doesn't want to get chatted up?

Exactly what I was wondering.

The OP states that they want to go into a bar and it would be good for someone to come up and talk to her, then states that she doesn't want men chatting to her...?

Not all men who come up to women in bars are after one thing, some actually just want to talk!

Maybe for exactly the same reasons a bloke might want to?

But she said "better still if people will talk to them" and then in the same sentence seems to not want to talk to men....

There's a difference between having a chat with someone and trying to chat them up.......

What she's really saying is that she wants to go out to a bar alone and get chatted up, but not by a perv or a nutter.

I can vouch for the OP, she is a really nice lass.....unfortunately, being that good looking, she is bound to attract the odd slime ball now and again...

and he'd said;

'Why would a woman go out to a bar on her own if she doesn't want to get chatted up?'

which is the question i was answering.

The Milestone is good for singletons... I see a fair few in there. The women are particularly lovely. I feel it's the kind place wouldn't be bothered by anyone. Good cocktails too.

The Frog & Parrot seems like a good choice.

Oh dear... bitter rejected men in here much?!?! lol, only joking.

What I was saying was that I wouldn't mind a chat, I never said that whether or not that included being chatted up... but my reference to 8 armed fellas was to make the point I didn't want feeling up!

There is some truth in what you say about women only wanted to be chatted up by people who are not weirdos and pervs, but then doesn't everyone like to pick a crowd they feel a part of and to choose who they spend time with?!

So is there one rule for men going out on their own and one for women then? Does a man go out to a bar on their own for reasons other than being chatted up? And they are not called sl**s?
