Do u think that it is ok for them to make fun of ginger people on this show. i was watching it last night after extras and a lot of it was making fun of ginger people

Is Ms Tate ginger? Or was it just make-up? I noticed that she was ginger in a lot of sketches and not just the ginger-refuge one. One thing I did notice about that sketch though was that all the ginger people were women - until at the end their was a man who didn't even look ginger!

My friend says that laughing at ginger people is the last form of socially acceptable racism.

I say pass the brown hair dye! :gag:

I'm ginger and thought it was hilarious! In fact, I pre-empted the situation from the beginning of the sketch.

She's evidently, as a fellow ginger, taking the **** out of the gingery discrimination around, personally I don't get much of it as I have a non-ginger complexion - I tan a bit, I don't have freckly arms, I have brown eyes not blue, and my hair is a different colour to the usual ginner (check the picture or www.myspace.com/noseyrosie for proof).

I was talking to some Americans a few weeks ago and they totally don't 'get' people who are mean about ginger hair over here. It seems to be the only country where it's an issue, and weirdly, it's our native hair colour!

People keep saying that my hair looks brown on that photo....I assure you the only dye that's touched my golden tresses is henna to make it more red!

I don't watch it very often. She has got pretty standard and predictable characters but she executes them well. One of my favourites has to be the middle class family - "Colin, Jocasta (or similar), something simply terrible has happened, that was Tim on the phone from Paris, and, well, Daddy hasn't been able to get the good brie this year!"

Send her back to 'The Bill'. At least she gave us something to laugh about in that!

Ah I *love* Catherine Tate, I was so excited about the 2nd series starting and was not disappointed! I thought the ginger hair thing was ok, not the funniest thing she's ever done but I didn't think it was offensive. My favourite is the Grandmother and also the one in the 1st series of the character (can't remember her name) who married the guy on Death Row, v v funny :hihi:

I completely disagree. "The Catherine Tate Show" is the most underrated comedy programme on TV. It's laugh-out-loud funny and I think she really uses the chav culture well. I like the "bothered?" character, but my favourite is the swearing gran:


The gran is in hospital and her grandson comes to visit. She starts on a rant about one of the volunteers.

"So she comes round with her trolley. Fackin busybody. She's huge. She said to me last time

'You look bored Mrs Taylor. I've got three words for you: Barbara Taylor Bradford'

So I said 'Yeah I've got three words for you too: Calorie controlled diet' "

"But she don't get no money for doing it though. She does it all from the goodness of her heart. Her great big, lard-coated heart"

It took me longer to get into CT than Little Britain. Today, I watched the entire first series - pure hilarity.

Although, Lauren's character can become nauseating.

"What ya talkin' about?"
"Do you not coming up no more because you can see your independence slipping away?"
"Nah, it's 'cos you're a ****ing thief!"

I love the CT show....especially Gran!!

Anyone else notice her grandson is differant to the lad used in the first series!!
