in tonights star there is an article about harvey who is nine months old,who is suffering from the worst form of meningitis.
he has had both his legs amputated above the knee, lost his lower arm and all his fingers on the other arm.
harveys family, my neice and various pubs in sheffield and louth are are going to get some fundraising started over the august bank holiday weekend,we want to raise money to set up a trust fund to make sure harvey gets the best prosthesisis available during his growing years,if anyone would like to help in anyway please let me know and i will pm you all the relevant info on how you can send donations offers of help etc.
if anyone could put me the link on out of tonights star about harvey i would be grateful, come on forumers

It's easy just type [ url ] (no spaces) then the web address eg http://www.sheffieldforum.com and then [/ url ] (again no spaces).. If you want to give the URL a name, just do the code, and type the name you want displayed between the tags and the URL, eg [ url ]http://www.sheffieldforum.com]SF[/ url ]

Every time i read something like this, it makes my heart race, i have had 2 children who have had meningitis, and i count my blessing that both came through it with no long term effects, my heart goes out to this, and any family who has to deal with this disease.

The Sheffield Star printed an article about Harvey who contracted Meningacoccal Menigitis and is still in Sheffield Children's Hospital. On behalf of his parents we are holding a big fun day in his home town of Louth, Lincolnshire to raise funds for his future.

Has anyone got any ideas or donations towards this venture.

Regards

Melanie

my heart goes out to the little boy it is so awful ,my daughter had meningitis in march this year and was rushed to the sheffield childrens hospital luckily the only after effect is her eye sight has deteriated and she now drags her leg a little thanks to the quick responce of the pediatritions ,but it amazing on how fast the septicemia sets in she had one spot when admited an hour later she was laid there and you could see the rash appearing so fast before your eyes words carnt explain how you feel its a horrible nightmare for anyone to go throu i just thank my lucky stars she has recovered she has just had her 5th birthday

Well if anything like stalls or raffles are held I would gladly contribute in some way, whether it was donating some stuf or making and giving some handmade cards or something (I would make them tasteful - so no comments re. the "unique" cards I am currently busy with thanks).

I don't have much cash to give a donation you see but if I could help in some other way I would. x

Both My daughters had Meningitis earlier this year thankfully they pulled through, as a result of this i am also trying to make more people aware of the dangers of meningitis (if i'm honest i knew very little myself until it happened)

Anyways I'm doing an absiel down the bristol hotel on the 25th September for the meningitis trust hoping to raise some money and raise awareness.

If anyone would like to take part then go to http://www.meningitis-trust.org/ for further details,

cheers
