does anyone know how i can remove/delete shortcut icons from desktop xp pro,im told its done in registry ie regedit. i cant just delete them it just deletes the programme as well. :help:

just make a folder on the desktop and drag the shortcut icons you dont need into it

It shouldn't.

Just right-click on the icon and select 'delete'.

the icons i want to remove are mobile partner and cyberlink webcam, ive done it then it comes back after reboot, thing is ive done it before in registry, but forgott how...

donload and install Microsofts TweakUI, you can use it to remove any icon u like from desktop (including recycle bin on XP) also has a lot of other good little features too

Hi sheffield UK, normally you can right click on the shortcut and it will give you the option to delete just the shortcut. Is this not the case on your computer?
