Grandad.Malky 25-08-2009, 12:01 Yes I know it’s a bit early but it’s a big game for us, will the bubble burst or are we on a roll. scottf 25-08-2009, 12:08 I think its going to be a very tough examination agains a very good side- im happy that greenings gone to fulham- have always hated playing against him. I think it will be a draw or we might JUST pinch it at the end. Should be a good crowd too 28k+ Grandad.Malky 25-08-2009, 12:11 Bring it on, as you say its going to be a real test, lets hope Blackwell can say “you haven’t seen nothing yet” at 5 o’clock on Saturday. alex3659 25-08-2009, 12:16 Come on you red and white wizaaaaaaaaards. Snook 25-08-2009, 16:36 we won a so called big game last week It wasn't really, though. As Reading are playing like relegation fodder! I do think this is the second big game of the season, and we took a point from the other one. I think that a draw would be a good result. alex3659 25-08-2009, 16:44 Sorry, I made a mistake. I think we caught Reading at the right time. bladesufc1 26-08-2009, 07:52 Yep this is the first “big” game. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=3646122 def a 6 pointer already :help: Grandad.Malky 26-08-2009, 10:03 def a 6 pointer already :help: 6 pointer in August  ................... nope I can see where you are coming from.:hihi: freyasdad 26-08-2009, 13:48 Definately is a big game something again to measure whether we will be in the mix at the end of the seaon. Yer right Malky, there was no excuse and United did the right thing with 'em both. I'd forgotten how bad the tackles and the mayhem was. The makers of the DVD have included the debacle on it, so fair play to 'em. A lot of people would have tried to sweep it under the carpet. I winced at Suffo's 'challenge', he could have broken the player in half! scottf 27-08-2009, 12:31 ANYWAY- back in utd vs west brom land ;) AltyOwl 27-08-2009, 12:38 Brunt and Beattie to score?? I have a feeling United will win this game. On a side note, the first time I went to the Lane was United v West Brom. Think West Brom won 4-2, would be around 94/95 time. I went to Hillsborough in 93, so my first game at the lane would have been a year or two after. Think you had people like Veart, Nilsen, Littlejohn playing. Don't think I ever went to the lane after about 97 (apart from when Wednesday played there) EDIT Balls to that, I remember Sneekes and Hughes playing for West Brom, so 98 is probably right. Backwell out. he has to go, or this football club will go nowhere. Agree mate. The back pass to the keeper from the centre/kick off says it all.WBA were nothing much.Sides with more creative players will beat them. CorkerSWFC 29-08-2009, 20:06 Can ask, who does Paul Walker support? sheff71 29-08-2009, 22:04 I thought we started ok, especially when Treacy was involved, but after about 15 minutes it reverted to long high balls. This would be acceptable on occasions, if your target man got a fair share of decisions, but when he got penalised whenever the ball was near him, you've got to change your game plan. West Brom didn't look that great though either, and resorted to long ball too easily themselves. I assume Bednar is related to the ref, with how he managed to avoid a booking until right at the end after a series of fouls... A point against the leaders was a fair result, hopefully our results sequence will continue as it has been this season - Draw, win, draw, win, draw so far... win at Derby, draw at Cov and then win the derby :) One thing for sure, the defence can't switch off like that and get away with it again. Higgs Boson 29-08-2009, 22:36 We had just equalised and were in the ascendancy when we got an attacking free kick. Blackie waves the players back until we had just 3 in the area. Compare that to a few minutes later when WBA get a free kick level with our area. All the Baggies players were in our penalty box except 2 defenders. They wanted to try and nick it, Blackie was happy with a point, as illustrated by taking Ward off and putting Howard on to bolster the midfield. It beggars belief how negative he is, it really does. leviathan13 30-08-2009, 01:33 We had just equalised and were in the ascendancy when we got an attacking free kick. They wanted to try and nick it, Blackie was happy with a point, as illustrated by taking Ward off and putting Howard on to bolster the midfield. It beggars belief how negative he is, it really does. I felt he only took him off to stop him getting injured. WBA were quite dirty throughout the match and, the nearer the end it got, I felt that WBA would start lashing out a bit more. So better it be one of the less important players that took the brunt of it, rather than one of the more important. With only a few minutes to go, and having to come back twice to secure a point, I don't think I could fault Blackwell. Would you have been happier him making a "positive" substitution and us going behind with a minute or two to go? Personally, I'd take the point over a possible loss any day. AltyOwl 30-08-2009, 01:37 Can ask, who does Paul Walker support? McCabe basically told listeners who Seth and Paul supported when they were questioning him repeatedly about James Beattie. Fair to them, they're pretty impartial. CorkerSWFC 30-08-2009, 08:55 McCabe basically told listeners who Seth and Paul supported when they were questioning him repeatedly about James Beattie. Higgs Boson 30-08-2009, 09:23 Would you have been happier him making a "positive" substitution and us going behind with a minute or two to go? Yes, I know there is always that risk but the free kick in a good attacking position that I was on about, gobsmacked me and a lot around me... Higgs Boson 30-08-2009, 09:25 Well i was listening to football heaven last night and there were a lot of unhappy blades saying that the football was crap, but Paul Walker was adament they were very good??? They do it with all of the clubs to be fair. If the presenters agrred with every caller, it wouldn't be much of a programme would it? Dot 31-08-2009, 10:38 I've got to say that I thought the football on offer was pretty poor with a big boot up to Henderson seemingly the main option most of the time. When we did get it down (first 15 minutes or so) we looked good and dangerous. I said last season that Blackwell doesn't have a plan B for when things aren't working and if this is his plan A he is soon going to alienate supporters even more. Funky_Gibbon 31-08-2009, 10:47 They do it with all of the clubs to be fair. If the presenters agrred with every caller, it wouldn't be much of a programme would it? I think Paul Walker takes it too extremes sometimes. Earwiggo 31-08-2009, 10:50 I've not bought it because I got it for my son when it was new and I haven't watched it yet but did they say what led up to it? If you mean was there any 'previous', I don't know but another Blade should enlighten you. Earwiggo 31-08-2009, 10:59 Both Seth and Paul Walker are Blades, but they do a good job of trying to be impartial. I don't see why they just don't 'come out'. Listeners to Talksport know which club presenters support on there, and I don't think it spoils the banter knowing who they prefer. RS does need an Owl to balance things up a touch though, you know what some callers can be like! Tek him for instance, ..... Matthew ...... biased as they come! :hihi: swervin 31-08-2009, 12:41 yep there was previous not with suffo but the big fella santos, broken cheek bone nearly lost his sight was told to keep his cool failed miserably .he went striaght into him Paul Blade 31-08-2009, 12:54 yep there was previous not with suffo but the big fella santos, broken cheek bone nearly lost his sight was told to keep his cool failed miserably .he went striaght into him Cheers m8 I knew about the previous but I was wondering if they said owt about it on the dvd scottf 01-09-2009, 07:52 I think it was a good performance by the blades, we battled with them and caused them problems all day. I agree with what dot is saying though- we do struggle to find another 'plan' when the forst one isn't working. The midfield was very scrappy today from both teams but thats what you get when you have 2 very fit teams- you get no time to do anything with the ball and it was only in the second half we could get the football down and play our thing- which did result in 2 goals. Killa did look like his mind was elsewhere- ill be glad when he re-signs.
