I have been invited to a wedding in a few weeks time with this on the invitation. Can someone please explain what I should wear!! If I were to wear what I liked it would be tatty jeans and a t shirt. Is this what they mean? or do they mean just not to wear a hat and dress?

Sadly I dont know anyone else going except the bride!

Have I invited you to my wedding? :suspect:

My definition is you don't need get something particular posh, just avoid tracksuit bottoms + trainers :D Wear something you feel is smart enough and comfortable without feeling the need to buy a whole new outfit.

Ah thanks Hels. I dont know if its your wedding :suspect: that would be weird!

So no jeans I suppose. It doesn't *literally* mean wear what you like then. Nice dress it is.

What was Minty's girlfriend wearing? There's 'wear what you like' and then there's 'try something in every colour until you look a total mess'! Ha!

My mum asked what colour bridesmaids dresses my daughter's having and when I said black, she said 'does everyone have to wear black?' Doh! Didn't have the heart to tell her she isn't going to be a bridesmaid! :D

Ooops went off track there... my interpretation would be literally 'wear what you like' if that's what's on the invitation otherwise why say that? It's probably more important for them that their guests feel comfortable and enjoy themselves rather than splash out on a new outfit but if you're really not sure then give the bride a quick call... and have fun!

I'd do a spot of homework on the venue (if it's something like the wmc at the bottom of their street, then yes, I'd take them at their word on 'wear what you like') and mix that with what you already know about the bride to come to a decision

If you want to play it safe I'd at least pick a dressy pair of trousers (if you're totally anti-skirt/dress) and a top that you won't feel underdressed in ;)

Our wedding was 'your favourite party frock' (suggesting nobody need rush out and buy anything new), so I had guests turn up in everything from what was intended as a second-wedding dress and last year's Jeager mother-of-the-bride outfit to trouser suits - the only one wearing jeans I think was me later in the night, but they set the leather corset off sooooo well :P

yes its quite obvious that you have to wear only that which you feels will be good and comfortable for you. Don't ever copy others because some times we wear clothes in fashion, but doesn't suits on us, and we also feel conscious after wearing it. So always see the comfort first....
