I was just relaying what he said ;)

maybe he's the head of a particular dept. of computing and didnt want to bore Ann more than she already was about computing  (not that computing is boring to me, i love it :D)

He used to lecture me. The man in question is Tony Simons (http://www.dcs.shef.ac.uk/~ajhs):
He is the designer of the Brunel (http://www.dcs.shef.ac.uk/~ajhs/brunel) and Poppy (http://www.dcs.shef.ac.uk/~ajhs/poppy) object-oriented languages, both supported by a theory of classification, and is the chief architect behind the Discovery Method (http://www.dcs.shef.ac.uk/~ajhs/discovery) for developing object-oriented systems...

He's aged a little when you compare that site to this one :P

By the way, I invited him to come and read this thread, but no reply (either on the forum or by email) so far.

i asked one of my mates today who saw it and as has already been said it is tony simons, he is actually head of teaching in the computer science department, i.e. the person who sorts out all of the schedules and the guy to report to if you lecturer isnt very good i'd guess.
