We've got an apple tree and the bottom half of the branches look like they've got some sort of disease. Can anyone recommend a tree surgeon, to cut it down? It's probably about 18 feet tall and around 12 feet at its widest.

The Local Authority may have a list of approved Tree Surgeons or the Arboricultural Association. If you use Yellow Pages ask to see chain saw certificates and insurances

We have just had our trees pruned today by " bob a job ", great price and very nice guy indeed, would highly recommend.

I've never used them but they are always doing loads of work in the area.

why not just get a bow saw and cut away the bad branches ? seems a shame to kill such a nice tree

I haven't used Anderson Tree Care but I've heard from friends that they are good and I've noticed that the drivers are exceptionally considerate around cyclists. :)

Well, that's it then, if they are considerate to cyclists, better use them. LOL.

Me too. A person who performs Tree Surgery is an Arborist. When choosing is an Arborist, Checkable qualifications are the first things to take into account. Without these, insurance and everthing else goes out of the window. Being considerate to cyclists is nice but the last thing you should take into account.

Would like to recommend J B Hibberd, Arboricultural Contractors (tree surgeons) who cut down & removed 5 large conifers from our garden. Excellent price, half of what one of the big chains quoted us, brilliant job done and very pleasant chap!

I used Broomhill Tree Services very recently and they were very good. Efficient & tidy & reasonably priced.

We use Ian Bird of Wisewood/Loxley. He arrives on time, does the job as pre-arranged, leaves the garden really tidy and does all you ask for a reasonable price. Wouldnt use anyone else.
