Phanerothyme 22-07-2005, 09:54 Find the file and move it out of the "documents and settings" folders and into another folder, eg c:\temp or in simple steps 1.Locate the file 2.Right click on the file 3.Select 'Copy' 4. now use windows explorer to find a suitable folder for it, not inside "documents and settings" alternatively, you can right click on the folder containing the items and select "sharing & security" and then check the "share this folder with other users on this computer" option. about a dozen other ways to effect this. rich951 22-07-2005, 10:15 It might be a little more complicated than this - there may be registry entries etc limited to one user. Try the simple solution first though :) I doubt the program will be under the Documents&Settings directory though - is it not more likely to just be a case of setting up a shortcut to an executable in a Program Files subdirectory? Phanerothyme 22-07-2005, 10:17 Ah, didn't read the post properly. Yeah, if you install software as admin, you may have difficulty running it as guest. Also installing the software as guest may not necessarily work. parrotface 22-07-2005, 10:53 Generally the guest account doesn't allow for software installs, or settings changes etc. alchresearch 22-07-2005, 11:34 Most software recommends installing as Administrator. If you have done this and the shortcuts are not present when you log on as a guest you just need to put a shortcut in the ALL USERS folder. Right click the START button and click EXPLORE ALL USERS. Copy and paste a shortcut to your program there. Titian 23-07-2005, 08:14 Originally posted by Phanerothyme Ah, didn't read the post properly. I've messed up if I have because my email accounts are as GUEST which means I have to start finding my accounts as ADMIN? URGH! I don't like techie stuff, it's like map reading. |
