hi

i have 2 kittens, Beryl who is 4 months on the 28th and Stanley who is not 4 months until 6th September.

i want to let them out but dont know when is best too-are they too young at the moment? also im worried about letting them out and them never coming back! they both know their names and come running when i waggle their food packets so i have a way of trying to get them back in.

the other thing is that i dont have a garden-i live in a cul de sac which has communal garden areas out front etc so there is somewhere for them to play. but just worried that when i let them out it wont be in a shut in area like a garden so is just adding to my worry that they might run off and i wont be able to get them back!! can anyone give me some advice on how to go about it?

ive seen harnesses in pets at home so was thinking of getting them one each and taking them out with me for a short walk round the cul de sac so they know the area etc before i let them out fully on their own. will this help or is it a stupid idea?!!!

The harnest is a good idea and not stupid at all although many ppl that see you may think so lol

Should i have said that hope it do,s not put you off im just going on ppls remarks when ive heard others thats seen ppl with cats on harnests but it really is a great way to get them to know the area.

Make sure they are doctored before you let them roam, you'll be overrun with kittens before you can say "Jack Robinson!"

They can be "done" at about 6 months.

yup I would also advise waiting until they have been done - also means they will be a little bigger. With my cats in the past (kitten or older) when they have first been let out I have done it just before teatimme as then they tend not to go too far as they know they are about to have food :) Also my last foster kits decided the wide world was just too scary and it took a couple of weeks of leaving the door open before they braved it - I was on the verge of taking them out of the door myself!! lol
