Britons are becoming increasingly impatient as the time pressures of modern life leave people feeling stressed, research has claimed.

Two-thirds of people said they thought modern life was too stressful, while 96 per cent admitted they behaved badly because of the rush they were in to get everything done, according to online insurer swiftcover.com.

The study, which was carried out by the Future Foundation, found that 60 per cent of people had jumped or swapped queues at the supermarket and 22 per cent had even abandoned their trolley or basket full of shopping because the queue to pay for things was too long and they had run out of time.

could a mod make this a poll and we can see how many of us change queues or abandon our trollies?

Although changing queue isn't that extreme. There's always the case when something won't scan, or the under 18 year old needs a supervisor to sell beer. Sometimes it really is quicker to change, who'd queue for the sake of it (something we used to be famous for I suppose)?

Well , the report was more than just changing supermarket queues.
If the report is to be believed and people in Britain are generally more stressed , it's not all that surprising .
Is there any other evidence , apart from this report ?
Well , I get the impression from reading S.F. and the newspapers that people are more controlled at work , from the minute they get there until the minute they leave , than at any previous time. They have targets to meet , meetings to attend , they can only smoke , eat or drink at restricted times and areas and in some jobs their workload is TIMED TO THE MINUTE , apparently . What a happy day they must have !
Apparently most people have a stressful time getting to work and going home. The British seem to work longer hours too than their European counterparts and they usually get less public holidays.
But , surely , all this stress must be in aid of something ?
Well , if you earn more money you can always buy a bigger or better car than the one you've got ; or a bigger T.V. ; or maybe move house ? Perhaps it is better to earn X+5% , tjhan X amount of money.?
Whatever , our N.H.S. bills seem to be soaring , the sale of , "happy" pills seems to be rocketing and there are almost 3,000,000 unfit for work , mentally or physically.
Well , perhaps the report was right after all !

modern live is as stressful as you make it.

I can go into work and look what I have to do and get streseed or just chill out and do it.

I purposely take a lot of the stress out.

no kids, don't drive, easy job etc etc.

is all about life choice.

I myself have abandoned trollies in Supermarkets when the availability of the products I wanted was unacceptable.

I must have a great job, apart from the commute.

Some stress is good for you, while other kind of stress is worrying.

I like the journey to and from work, its my chance to think and make decisions.

I have learnt not to try and fit everything into my job, it will always wait for me tomorrow. My office is one of the least stressful places I have.

I do stress about family though, but thats an everyday stress I dont want to get rid of.
