I need to open .doc on my Mac but haven't got Word installed.
I remember downloading Open Office for my PC a while ago but not sure if I can do a similar thing with my Mac.
Is there any free programs I can download and use and where can I get them from ?
Thanks in advance

You shouldn't have any problem finding a viewer. If you want to edit a PC Word document, that might be more difficult.

Imagine if there was some way you could search the internet and it would find stuff like this for you...... I guess even there was, people wouldn't use it.....
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=openoffice+mac&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a
Otherwise get a googledocs account and import it, then you can do what you like with it :)

Avoid OpenOffice for the Mac, especially if you have a Power PC processer. Use NeoOffice, it uses the OfficeOffice engine but doesnt require the X11 shizzle.

(The Mac OS X application) "TextEdit supports a number of Word features, including tables, but some other features may not be supported" - words taken from "About document formats" in Help in "TextEdit".
