View Full Version : Online vs. Offline - People's Impressions of Me

I got bored and decided to copy Lickable (sorry).

I've been posting my gobsh*te opinions on this board for more than a year now and I'm always wondering what people on the forum make of me.

Considering the fact that whilst I was running the Fish of the Day game many forum users assumed I was a woman, I'm betting that folks have pretty wild and inaccurate impressions of their fellow users.

So what am I like in the flesh, large as life and twice as ugly?

I think you have just got married so you'll be a happy smiling boy.. I think you may have a decent sun tan following your honeymoon.

No hard feelings about 'stealing' my thread. You were inspired, simple as.

I awlays thought you were male, but wondered about the name.

I thought you were around 30 and had a genuine intrest in fish.

To describe you visually i would of thought. Short Brown Hair, Glasses, quite tall and slim.

To describe you as a person, hmmm, toughy. I would of gone for, intresting, sociable, but better at it on the web as apposed to 'real life'. A family man with a wide kwoledge base, and like a good glass of red in the evening.

How close am i?

Let's see.

I'm male, and I have to say that I've never come across a woman named "Carmine"!

I'm 26 and have a passing interest in fish that errupted into a rather strange game to pass the time!

You're right about the hair colour, but it's long and teamed with a goatee. I've never worn glasses in my life and I'm tall, but not slim (not that I'm lardy, you understand;) ).

I'm not that bad at the real world social thing and most people find me interesting I hope, I'm married but have no kids and I like either a glass of red or a pint of black.

So you were about 50% there, Lickable...thanks for the guess and the pleasant comments!

Sorry I thought you were a girl! No offence. When you have as little as a name and a picture to go on its easy to make mistakes...

As for your appearance, are you a large fat man with a bellowing laugh and ludicrous beard that you have sculpted into an amusing shape?

Thought not.

Ships in the night, eh?!?

Considering that you've only got 121 more posts than me that's quite worrying...am I that low-profile, Robbie?

I could have been forgiven for thinking that you were a strangely philosophical child with a similarly reflective tiger for a friend!

I'm not offended that most people seem to think I'm a girl...I just think they'd be disappointed if they actually met me...but there was that one strange guy that kept PMing me even after I told him I was a guy...that was a little wierd.

There are times when I feel an affinity with Calvin and then there are times when the cynic in me identifies so closely with Hobbes.

Right now my favourite Calvin quote comes from the strip where his parents have been reacting in a negative fashion to tv adverts and his advice is as follows:

"Maybe you should drink more beer?"

Oops, Carmine, I'm sorry to say I'm another one who wasn't sure whether you were a boy or a girl

Although the image that I'd sort of settled on for you was a girl with long red hair who used to work in a bookshop for some reason.....?! A good-looking girl, if that helps any? :D

The image I had in my mind was that you might look a bit like Captain Birdseye.

Strange thing is that I've never come across a woman by the name of "Carmine"!

There are three separate occasions on which I've come across the name in the movies:

- The name of the mayor in "National Lampoons Animal House"
- Carmine the Bowler, the father of Janine Garofalo's character in "Mystery Men"
- The name of one of the men dated by the supermodel in the Britney Murphy film "Little Black Book"

If anyone has come across a person of female persuasion who shares my name then I'd be glad to hear of it!:)

So assuming Carmine, in this context is not a lady's name. How did you arrive at your username, Carmine?
