Hi,

I've recently moved house at my current GPs (Park Health Centre) have ordered me off their books as I am now outside their catchment area.

I don't want to leave but I realise I have to, because Park have been great.

Where I currently live, I am eligible to register at two surgeries, either

Sheffield Medical Centre (Spital St)
or
Burngreave Medical Centre (5 Burngreave Road).

I wondered if anyone on here goes to either of these surgeries? DO you have any feedback, good or bad?

The two main things are that firstly, I have several chronic medical conditions so I need to go to my GPs quite frequently, and secondly, I work full time, so ideally I need someone who is nice and where appointments are not impossibly hard to get.

Hope someone can help...

Burngreave Medical Centre - used to be Dr Hopwood - top bloke
Sheffield Medical Centre - Dr Zaman - seemed nice enough

never been a patient at either but have worked with both in a previous job role - but if you can I suggest you try Trish Edney at Pitsmoor Surgery - further up towards Abbeyfield Park - she's a quality gp and very good at getting things sorted out...I've been a patient there....

Doctor Zaman has now retired. Sheffield Medical Centre now is operated by 2/3 doctors (Female / Male).

i work in your area and regularly take clients with lots of medical problems to all your local GP's and sit in on the appointments. to be honest i find Pittsmoor the best out of them all. They have more GP's so more of a chance of an appointment to suit you and the GP's just seem to have a more enlightened and caring attitute to paitents.

Pittsmoor is just a bit further up Burngeave road on the same side as Burngreave surgury. if you fall in the catchment for Burngreave and Sheffield Medical Centre you will have no problems registering at Pittsmoor.

i'd recomend it! They have fish in the waiting room too!

i am at pitsmoor surgery and cant fault them,... receptionists look very unhappy but are nicest people you can meet and very helpful..i am with Dr Edney and she is a good doc but a little poor on people skills... but very good surgery and friendly

You could argue the toss for continuing care by the same doctor - so long as you don't need home visits.

I did this when I moved in Peterborough - so I realise you may get less joy here :(

I worked in a residential unit for years and used all 3 centres. pitsmoor was the best by far.
