Can anybody tell me if Love to Be has moved to Club Zero? Apparantly there was loads of trouble at the previous club so it has moved there. If so what is the club itself like and what kin of people does it attract?

Apparantly there was loads of trouble at the previous club so it has moved there. If so what is the club itself like and what kin of people does it attract? Vini 21-07-2005, 13:32 Zero, is the best club in sheffield, kitted out really nicely. Its compact and cosy. Lots of curtains and stuff, very cool club! I go for Urban Gorilla, not been to any other nights. If the trouble was due to the people, thats a shame, cos it could carry over to Zero? BertieBasset 21-07-2005, 15:48 pill poppers.... :gag: neeeeeeeeeek 21-07-2005, 16:23 great reply Beritie, consistant as ever! Zero is not a bad venue, security are normally fine and most nights seem to get a good crowd. I think trouble at clubs is often caused by the nights they put on rather than the venue, Pohnaanaa? / elemental never used to have trouble until they put on an R&B night, the Arches never had any trouble at Zogg or Headcharge or any of the many nights before that. I don't like Zero as it only has 1 room, so nowhere to ecape too and the dnace floor tended to get a bit too busy due to the lack of space. Other than that it's fine for a city centre club. mjlacey21 21-07-2005, 16:46 It's a very average place Agent Gypo 21-07-2005, 17:17 Originally posted by mjlacey21 It's a very average place And it's about to get even more average. I know a few people who work there who have let slip some of the plans Non_Shabby 21-07-2005, 17:36 Lol.... Love 2 Be problems were the door staff at the Adelphi letting in a nasty crew & allowing them to cause havoc. The love 2 be boys tried their upmost to get them booted from the venue, as they work hard to keep their crowd nice & friendly, but the doorstaff allowed the trouble to ensue. .Zero isn't about to be be more "average"......im sure that if you speak to anyone at the venue or read your local press, that you will find .Zero is about to expand into the poundshop next door, which gives them an extra 2 rooms, plus have signed up the best in Sheffield Djs/Residencies/Events...and is about to come "HUGE!" I know about this from the staff. They don't sound too keen. Some clubbers are worried it will turn into another Gatecrasher 1 (1 is MORE than enough), and the staff were complaining that the quality of nights is dropping... I quite like some of the nights at zero though, so I do hope it works out with the new plans. mardep 21-07-2005, 17:43 the doorstaff are the best doorstaff in the city. the club itself is amazing, amazing soundsystem, amazing bar service. they have wicked nights every week! and after hearing information regarding the future with the expansion and plans on events and djs/acts about to come, it is really gonna be something else! far from being another ****crasher 1. Agent Gypo 21-07-2005, 17:48 Hmmmmmm, I disagree about it having wicked nights every week, and it certainly isn't a great club in its current format. There's nowhere to wonder off if the dj is naff... Good bar service though. Non_Shabby 21-07-2005, 17:52 at least with 3 rooms of good music, there will always be somewhere to wander off to.... where is your fave club? Drut 21-07-2005, 17:56 Did zero for the last 18months @ Zogg. One room with no escape got a bit much:| But the door staff are the best:D So now i goto stars where u can walk abowt:D Remember is not the venue wot makes the night its the tunes and the peaple that do:thumbsup: Agent Gypo 21-07-2005, 17:56 Arches at attercliffe, though it's closed at the moment. Sheffield has a really bad problem with venues. The swines at Stars were charging for GLASSES, not just bottles of water, at the last planet zogg. A girl next to me at the bar warned me they throw people out who complain. I could be wrong, but isn't it illegal to charge for water in bars and clubs? Kthebean 21-07-2005, 18:03 I think it is, AG, if it's not it should be!! The quality of venues are quite important - anyone who says the venue don't make the night has a) obviously never danced the night away under the stars on a beach or in the woods, b) never been to kingdom Zero. is ok, a bit too small for my liking though, there's nowhere to just chill if you want to chat for a bit. Where is this stars? Agent Gypo 21-07-2005, 18:07 Stars is the venue next to the ice rink on queens road. It's pretty dirty, but not bad. Just the bar policy that stinks really... I would have thought, knowing it only has one room (thus 1 dj) then you would have to go to that club knowing who is going to be playing. Its not a club where you all go to get drunk and listen to 80s cheese etc... a la gatecrasher one... It's a specialist (how i see it anyway) club with nights other clubs dont have. mjlacey21 22-07-2005, 13:15 Yeah but going there knowing who the DJ is is no guarentee they will actually play a set you like. the fonz 22-07-2005, 13:18 true. Steve Lawler at UG was a great example of that for me, i was hoping for some deep progressive house like dark drums but he let me down bo ho ho green 22-07-2005, 13:18 well.....once they have 3 rooms the chances are you'll find something you like...:D Agent Gypo 28-07-2005, 17:40 Originally posted by Vini I would have thought, knowing it only has one room (thus 1 dj) then you would have to go to that club knowing who is going to be playing. Theres always more than one dj on. We went down for Krafty Kuts, who was pretty awful, and his warm up Jon Carter was much better, so it doesn't always work out how you want. I wouldn't say Zero was specialist, it caters for fans of music that is quite popular (nothing wrong with that). Though the owners will have love for the nights they put on, the bottom line is to get people through the doors to spend money, just like any other club. lillean 28-07-2005, 18:56 To respond to the original posting, me. Good place, some silly lads of course, but always been good for me. But I would go anywhere for breaks, including serbia by car. scottf 29-07-2005, 08:40 How the **** can people say that zero is a better club than crasher??? Sorry but GC is a multimillion pound superclub with a £750,000 opus soundsystem that is one of the best in the county behind sankey soaps. Zero is 1 room thats had a bit of cash spent on it! You may not like the people that go to GC but that doesn't make it a **** club! Or even, they are the very 'thing' which gives it 'soul' - not a multimillion pound superclub with a £750,000 opus soundsystem. rizo 30-07-2005, 08:05 Is the system good for DnB nights? jake 30-07-2005, 11:55 Originally posted by scottf please explain yourself a bit better? A very good question - its hard to define.. but you can tell when somewhere has it. The guy who runs GC is very astute business wise - but you cannot "buy" integrity. The venue has been notoriously, er.. firm... in their dealings with anyone they come into contact with, not winning them too many friends, but to be fair they have wisely chosen a path of just-to the-credible side of mainsteam musical policy for their nights and kept a very good profile in all the national media. Fair enough, everyone has to pay the rent, but somehow I cannot see any nights put on at GC being run for the love of music. robbie 30-07-2005, 12:02 Originally posted by scottf How the **** can people say that zero is a better club than crasher??? You may not like the people that go to GC but that doesn't make it a **** club! at least zero have decent dj's on some nihts and have a decent music policy. Ever since the days of Judge Jules :gag: :gag: Crasher has been awful. it seems the clientel are more and more towny types who just listent o chart music or Galaxy so they don't bother putting more adventurous dj's on. the owner is very financially astute but I suspect is more interested in making money than promoting good music. CherryNicole 30-07-2005, 12:08 slightly off topic....has anyone ever managed to ring their box office....i've been trying for days Vini 30-07-2005, 13:30 since the GC revamp its gone down hill in so many ways. the soundsystem was much better in republic, dunno what it was but its ****** on the new one. certainly for the crasher events anyway. last night proved how zero is a great clubbed. rammed from 10pm till 6am, no aggro nothing. pure quality music with a great atmosphere. |
