View Full Version : Sheldon Road is closed - traffic awful pete_jim 21-07-2005, 11:58 Abbeydale Road is very slow going into town avoid if you can. Bruce_Shark 21-07-2005, 12:22 Sheldon Rd has been closed all day, for roadworks. Abbeydale Rd is closed for a short period because of a dangerous building which is "falling down". Diversions down Broadfield Rd (into town) and London Rd (out of town). pete_jim 21-07-2005, 12:30 Yes thanks for the update I just heard about the fally downy shop, the traffic is still terrible. Rich 21-07-2005, 12:33  @ fally downy... Bruce_Shark 21-07-2005, 13:50 Abbeydale Rd is now open again (after being closed for a short period because of a dangerous building which was "falling down). However one lane is still coned off (into town) for the moment, so the traffic will still be worse, avoid if you can. KookyKoo 21-07-2005, 13:51 which shop was fally downy? :o pete_jim 21-07-2005, 14:07 Corner shop opposite SPAR grocers, painted purplish and white. Our friend has the butchers shop nearby and said a blind man on a galloping horse could have spotted that the builders didn't have a clue. Titian 21-07-2005, 14:51 hasn't it fallen down now? I drove past and viewed a double bed upturned in a room above. Maybe there is a bit left, looks like a cross section of a house now. jonsastar 21-07-2005, 14:56 Originally posted by Bruce_Shark Sheldon Rd has been closed all day, for roadworks. Sheldon road was closed closed due to the trees getting a trim not road works, there were about three lorrys on there doing a little pruning... foxy 21-07-2005, 14:59 traffic was no worse than normal further up around the junction with woodseats road, around 20/30 mins ago :) jonsastar 21-07-2005, 15:03 Originally posted by Bruce_Shark Abbeydale Rd is now open again (after being closed for a short period because of a dangerous building which was "falling down). I saw this building yesterday and thought it looked well dodgy, looked like four or five course of brickwork had been removed from the gable end of the building. Very stupid thing to do as they hadn't safely propped up the brickwork above it, there was a good few tons of bricks and rubble just waiting to come down, Im surprised no one was killed. KookyKoo 21-07-2005, 15:09 happy 500th post jonsastar!!!    jonsastar 21-07-2005, 15:21 thanks stewdee.... never thought id reach 500 Captain_Scarlet 21-07-2005, 18:48 Originally posted by Bruce_Shark Sheldon Rd has been closed all day, for roadworks. That explains the cops on London Rd Sth/Broadfields Rd junction doing traffic (better than them lights ever do might I say !) Can we please have cops there all the time and no lights ? that'd be brill ! Which building is falling down on Abbeydale Rd ? Oh I read it's the white & purple shop ? I could drive there (no I'm not walking) and check and take piccies.
