Looked out the window and found piece of frame hanging out. Trouble is these windows are art decco windows and we would have to get a specialist firm to encapsulate them as Government now insists that single glazed windows must be replaced by double glazing. I heard you could get a government grant to replace single glazed with double. Anyone had such a grant?

Given that this is the disability group - if someone in the house is drawing Disability Living Allowance, the Warm Front scheme gives grants for all sorts of house-insulation projects (we're getting loft insulation and cavity-wall...) I do not know for certain if double-glazing is among them.

I've looked on the Warm Front. It doesn't mention windows but British Gas mentions it and one of the major double glazing firms mentions it. I looked on the government site and it said grants varied according to the local authority. Sheffield council site doesn't mention it and besides British Gas and double glazing both say its a government grant. I know I qualify. I just don't know who to apply to or how.
