just got back from vets , i had a phone call from me sister that my cat had been hit by a car so after going to see him in the persons yard were he was i got to there gate shouted him he got up and walked to me i picked him up and my sister and me rushed to the local vets in maltby and they gave him a good looking over but could not find any broken bones he just seemed a bit grogy so they gave him an injection and said to us to take him to balby vets were they put him on a drip and a stay in ive got to f=phone thm up at 7, 30pm this evening to see how hes doing and then phone up in morning to see what has to be done,

now we went back to the womans house who found him and she says she found him in her back garden around back of her garged a good 700 yds away from the main road now wen she shown me i started to think now he might not have been hit by a car , my sister thinks he might have had a heart attack cause he is a old cat , or hes been booted by somebody , i will know more wen i phone vets up later fingers crossed

the woman would not harm him cause she has cats to and a dog infact she was on her way to take him to the vets

I hope your cat makes a recovery, good news that he has no broken bones :) It was lucky that the women saw him and got in contact so quickly and you could get him to the vets quickly.

I suppose you won't know what happened to him unless the vet can work it out, if it was a glancing blow from a car he might have been a bit out of it and just got himself somewhere quiet.

Good luck with your phone call

Poor old Tom I hope he is better soon he is in the best place!

When one of my cats was fatally hit by a car, he was found on my path in the front of my house. This was a good way from the road. I assumed that the adrenalin kept him going before he died.

Get well soon Tom x

I am so sorry to hear that :(

He is in a nice place now I know, with no pain.

Wonder how he got poisoned, but sometimes we can never know these things.

Next few days will be hard, but remember all the good times you had together and those memories will make you smile :)

By the way if you find out who is intentionally poisoning cats (which may or may not be the case) let me know, i know loads who will help ya make 'em pay!!!!

Hi KoiKeeper. I live in maltby and this is very frightening as I have two cats. Let me know if you need a hand leafleting or anything. I certainly will be keeping mine in from now on. Have you contacted the Advertiser and the police?

Never ceases to amaze me the number of saddos that exist to hurt a defenceless animal - they must be really really proud :loopy: RIP Tom :(

It's an awful thing to do and to find a way so cruel is just plain in human, there are plenty of cat haters around you only have to read the forum to know that...and I have read some advocating the use of anti freeze to deal with them, makes you think doesn't it hmm

I just hope that Karma works, and that cruel works are repaid in full times 3!

thats awful. i myself am not a cat lover but would never ever hurt one its just plain sick they are totally inncoent why would you want to hurt them? i know people who have had their cats hurt when they have let them out. one was shot in the leg with a pellet gun and another had a firework tied to her and was burnt. that is why my friend who is a great cat lover has hers as house cats and a fenced outside area for them. just horrible

Thank you Foxyflugel, I think it's important that as many people see this as possible, I would hate for this to happen to anyone else's cat :(

I think that it's worth stating that cats and dogs both seem to like the flavour of propylene glycol (antifreeze) so it's not automatic that it was administered deliberately- there could be an open container somewhere locally which has been dumped. Unfortunately the animals could have dosed themselves, unless there's some sort of proof that this is not the case.

The cats could have easily drunk the anti-freeze themselves if there is an open container somewhere, as Medusa said cats seem to like the taste of anti-freeze.

I have just seen this and im nto all worried, 2 of my cats went missing a few months back, but as they were out side cats and we lived near a rail way i just thought that the worst had happened. We had also been informed that cats had been stollen in the area. It was heartbreaking to not see out moggies again. Now one of my other cats has gone missing, i have posted on here to see if anyone knows him, Im really worried that i wont se him agian now, he was my baby and loved my 2 year old very much. he never ventured far, just enough to have a scout about and go to the toilet, so im really thinking something has happened to him :( I hope i dont find him poisoned :(

Just come across this now - I know its some time after the incident was reported in Maltby.
I just wanted to share that my cat went missing in Edlington in April of 2007. Although she never came home there were reports of cats being poisoned. Several were found dead and one was seen dying on our street, though no blood tests were done to confirm the poisonings I was told that the allotment holders poison the cats as they are seen as pests. Not sure how true this is but we can only wonder what happened to all the cats that died in those few months.

I am trying to make Jake a house cat, and im holding hope that he will be although he is very curious about being outdoors. George on the other hand is NOT a house cat and never will be he's just too eager to get out and about...
I dont know what i'd do if anything happened to my babies, we've not had them long but they've just become part of the family so easy, i know my daughter would be devastated about not seeing Jake too :(
