Hi all!
Can anybody suggest a cheap reception venue within a 10 mile radius of Bakewell? We're after a cute village hall or something similar. Any suggestions welcome!
Try Townfield Barn at Shatton. It is literally just that - a stone barn with a room with a beautiful fireplace, a kitchen and toilets. Then a dutch barn (covered roof but open sides) outside set in the middle of a field. Its about £100 a day to hire i think but obviously then you can spend as much or as little to add to it. Been to one wedding where they've just added gazebo's outside and had a hog roast. Been to another where they added a small marquee onto the room and another where they added a huge marquee, had big caterers etc the works. Basically its just a blank space for you do to what you want. Its over a ford and up a narrow country lane surrounded by hills, absolutely stunning.
Lots of parking and also camping space for drunk guests!!

I don't know if this will be a little bit too far but you could try http://www.roaches.org.uk/village%20hall5.html.
You can rent out the hall for weddings but you'll need to call them for a price
:)
Just thinking Calver village hall is very good - they have recently re done it and its very well equipped etc too. Know a caterer who does all sorts there.
