If you can call it outside certaily Windsor, although it's some years ago. Cowes on the Isle of Wight, £10 for a 1,000 piece jigsaw.

Probably Tokyo or NYC. It's why everybody lives in shoebox-sized houses and why the Friends apartment is so unrealistic!

The south west for the least amount of disposable income - low wages, high cost of living.

Well done for spotting that Lisa - in my head I read the title as "Outside of London where is the most expensive place..."

Will read the full title next time before posting.

Anywhere that says "Motorway services", £1.20 for a can of coke... like wtf... I'd rather cut off my arm and drink my own blood...

It's more than that at Chatsworth House, I think it was £1.60 or so, and you needed a mortgage for a cornetto.

Robbing upper classes, no wonder thay can afford that big house.

Nick2, I do feel that I have to jump to the defence of the new Duke and Duchess here ;)

How many other stately homes can you name where you are allowed to wander free of charge at your will (and park for free at the far end of the park)? You can roam through the park, have a picnic by the waters edge and all for nowt. Can't be that bad can it?

Birmingham is expensive - for clothes shopping at least...

maybe parts of our very own sheff?!

if hallam is the most affluent ward outside london and the s.e. then surely these must some be the most expensve houses? (does it work like this?)

I think that that question is too hard to answer and there probably isn't one right answer. Because everywhere has it's expensive places and cheap places but pressumably if it was it would be another large city. What's Glasgow like price wise? houses, living expenses and shops?

Canterbury gradually got quite expensive in my time there; so then I headed to Sheffield!

I thought Gerrards Cross was the most expensive for houses? Or maybe that's the highest per capita income, bah too many stats I'm all confused!

"new" Duke and Dutchess ? they're both in their 70's probably.

And I bet they would charge for using the park if they could get away with it.

Well if she's (http://www.chatsworth-house.co.uk/) in her 70's then I hope I look as good when I reach my 3 score years and 10.:D

Anway what has their age to do with the price of fish?

As for your 2nd point..................of course they could get away with it, they own the land don't they??????
