What do people think should be done with this guy, he is obviously breading dissention and as a cleric is likely to be preaching this to his congregation. Should be allowed to air such views or should he be silenced in some way?

IMO if we locked him up he would just become a martyr for his cause and people would be more likely to rally round him. His obvious hatred for Tony Blair and George Bush are apparent, and by refusing to cooperate with police and by not condemning Osama Bin Laden should be evidence enough. The last thing we want is for people to start mimicking his actions.

As he is Syrian-born, I think the answer would be to revote his citizenship and send him back. I know the Syria doesn't have to take him but why should we be lumbered with people like this? Not only do they cause hatred, but they tarnish the Muslim faith to all non-Muslims.

BBC News http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4702107.stm

He condemned "any killing of innocent people here and abroad" but said he would never co-operate with police...

But in another interview, with BBC1's 10 O'clock News, he said there was "no way" he would condemn Osama Bin Laden.
He said: "Why I condemn Osama Bin Laden for? I condemn Tony Blair, I condemn George Bush. I would never condemn Osama Bin Laden or any Muslims." ...

Deport him back to an Islamic country.
He's happy enough to take money from our benefits system and yet hates our way of life.... you know what they say about biting the hand that feeds. Simple - deport him.

Looks like a good test case for the new legislation.

He's expressed no real objections to deportation, so perhaps that's the best bet all round?

If teh Government do not act against such people then I for one will lose any faith in them actually doing anything to stop terrorism other than ringing their hands and looking pained.

What people say and do can be two different things. This is just the type that MI5 could coerce through money or threats to family welfare to spread disinformation to wannabe terrorists.

In other words, this guy could be a mole who is advertising, "tell me your plans and I won't tell the police." Under this conspiracy theory, he could let one or two slip through to keep his cover but somehow leak other plans and assist MI5 in catching the bigger fish.

Perhaps I watch too much television…

It's quite simple, This chap doesn't like anything that the west stands for but likes everything it has to offer. While he's here preaching hatred for our values and selling himself and other radicals as a damming system against a tide of radical islamic action I would like to know exactly why, if the wets is so abhorrent, does he stay here to be comtaminated with our obviously decadent lifestyles. My particular favorite is that he states he would do nothing even if he were in reciept of information relating to potential terrorist activities.

For a moment I was tempted to write "If you don't like it then you know where you can go" but I'm afraid my knuckles don't drag near enough the ground to start down that route. However I will say this, this man in no way contributes in a constructive manner to his immediate religious community (which he evidently holds dear) and to the wider community as a whole and the sooner he is deported for his extremist views the better in my opinion.
