Rehome or Sale?

Rehome!

Reason for Rehome / Sale

We had four roborovski hamsters, apparently all female... One is actually a male and we've ended up with NINETEEN hammies in the space of a fortnight! We cannot keep them all, and they have to go ASAP please!

Sale Amount

Free!

Location

Killamarsh, S21 Sheffield ( if necessary will deliver! )

Has the Pet been in Rescue Previously?

No

Can the animal be picked up and put into a basket without the risk of scratching or biting?

Yes, They've been handled from a very young age!

Age & Sex

Between a few days old to six months. Newborns will come with mother, and if possible a cage.

Breed/ Mix

Roborovski Hamsters.

Colour/coat type

Sandy golden brown with white eyebrows and stomachs.

Can the animal be groomed/handled without biting or scratching?

Yes, but the newborns will need to be left untouched until they are fourteen days old.

Live in / out

Inside, in a cage designed for dwarf hamsters or preferably a large fishtank.

Neutered/spayed

Not possible! Too small and the chance of survival is slight!

Chipped

No.

Any Current or Historical Health or Psychological Issues

No.

Temperament

Friendly, tame and quiet, only been bitten once when I gave one a rude awakening!!!

Vaccinated & Wormed

Have been treated with flea prevention spray.

Any special knowledge needed

Not really, they are simple and easy to care for, needing only food and fresh water, cleaning out is less frequent than with Syrians as the cage doesn't get dirty easily! Probably best suited to older children, teens and adults as they are very fast and can panic when frightened, and try to run away.

General Information you can share

Live well in groups, and are very sociable. Best not to be kept alone as they will be very unhappy.

Would ideally like to get rid of them as mother and babies groups, and we also would like to get rid of the male to avoid future hammy families!

I've just picked up two of these little cuties, they are adorable, as yet unnamed but seem to be settling into their new home. :)

I should hope you're not rehoming any newborns (not up and out of the nest) as the mother will kill them.
