View Full Version : Wedding Dress Cleaners
Hello,
Does any-one have any recommendations on dry cleaners in Sheffield who specialize in wedding dress cleaning. And if so how much does it cost?
Many Thanks,
Rachel

KATIEB_23 17-08-2009, 17:14 Hi
I need to get mine cleaned too. I did some research and looked at other recommendations on the 'You and Your Wedding' forum and I think I'll go use an online place.
Mostly because:
The dry cleaners I phoned said that it would be a variable price depending on how difficult it is to get it clean, so basically once they've got your dress they can charge you whatever they like! Online places have a set guaranteed price.
While your dress is at the dry cleaners it is NOT insured! So if they damage it - tough! The online places will fully replace the dress if anything goes wrong.
I found online places starting from about £75.
I know you're all going to scream at this but have you looked at the label in your dress to see if it can be put in a washing machine?
I had a beautiful satin dress, longish train with lace full length overcoat and took it to Johnsons after the wedding to be dry cleaned and she took a look at the label and recommended that I washed it myself as it would come out cleaner. They were going to charge £125 to do it there and said that they basically steam it and it wouldn't actually be washed.
As I seemed to have cleaned all the pavements at Whitley Hall that day I had a lot of peacock poo and other stuff all over the bottom of it. A normal wash on 30 degrees and it came out looking absolutely stunning.
Just a thought.

Just a thought.Lots of brides on the YAYW forum recommended hand washing their dresses in the bath with some delicate handwash / silkwash, theirs came out fine too.
Thanks for the advice girls, I wouldnt have thought to look online for people who would collect/deliver it back! I imagined one of my friends lugging it to a dry cleaners in town!

weenireeni 12-09-2009, 19:49 My dress has a few stains (it was a sample) but it has lots of swarovski crystals on it, so very reluctant to get it dry cleaned or hand washed, is there any way of getting it spot cleaned? and can anyone reccommend places in sheffield?
thanks
whitewitch 14-09-2009, 21:03 I got my dress from La Bella Brides at Chapeltown, they do wedding dress cleaning so I will be taking mine back there, my dress also has lots of swarovski crystals and tiny little pearls so Im a bit dubious about sending it anywhere else. I dont know how much they charge yet
I took mine back to the shop I bought it from, and they were half the price of any dry cleaners.
weenireeni 15-09-2009, 21:28 my bridal shop is in brighton so would rather not go back there, plus when i bought they quoted £100 (no box)
