Hey girls,

There's loads of us on here who like the idea of learning to play football for free so I'm proposing a girlie kickabout - for those of us who are too old to join youth teams and too young to be labelled incapable of playing sports!

Saturday mornings in Hillsborough park any good for anyone. There's a few girls interested so far so reply to this post and I'll PM you with my e-mail address so we can get this fitness football kickabout thing underway.

Should be a good laugh. All we need are balls and some determination! I know the basics and the off-side rule! Used to play for a team but anyone with more experience is welcome to help me show these girls the basics!

Let's get it going!!!

For a kick about in the park I don’t think you will be needing the off-side rule :hihi:but good luck with your idea, hope it gets of the ground.

Malky - you can stop the laughing - it's always good for us girls to know the offside rule so that when our male counterparts laugh and say we don't know it, we can turn around and say YES WE DO!!! Men!

I also shoudl add I have a basic grasp of the off side rule - although this involved a salt and pepper pot and some cutlery... but I got it in the end!!

was laughing at the idea of you having a five-a-side kick about and trying to implement the offside rule, it isn’t going to happen is it, wait until you have your side together and start some real training.

Malky, why don't you come down and watch me teach the girls the off-side rule! Cheeky b*gger. You don't know how many girls are interested you - there might be enough for 11 a-side - how would you know?

Kat you are missing the point if you get a bunch of complete novices together (male or female) you want to be showing them the basics not bogging them down with rules, anyway what’s the obsession with the offside rule.

I wouldn't call it an obsession, i'd call it mentioning it as a laugh between us girls initially, and you picking up on it. Of course there would be no need to teach such rules at a kick-about session. That's just impractical and pointless. Perhaps it was you who missed the point?

What ever, good luck with you efforts in getting a team together.
