View Full Version : Do you love your bed?
Juicyb125 20-07-2005, 19:04 Being that we spend such a large part of our lives in bed comfort is such an important factor, I thought I would start up this thread....
I am currently in a really uncomfortable bed and shall not be buying a new one until Sept/Oct when I move into a new house. It is nearly crippling me, but unfortunately, I have no choice but to wait.... maybe through some peverse way I can get comfort from you telling me your stories about your WONDERFULLY COMFORTABLE beds and how much time you spend in them and what else you do in your beds besides the obvious one! :heyhey:
Also any recommendations from anyone who has bought a really great bed recently
Mr Purple 20-07-2005, 19:09 I love my bed. Its so great since my old one was so crap. I also love my bedcovers theyre like a world map and are so great I mean I could tell you that the capital city of Burkina [which I think is now burkino faso] is Ougadougou by looking at my bed.
I also enjoy sleep its one of my favourite past times and one I can only do in my bed ergo I love my bed.
-Mr Purple
P.s my bed was from the natural bed company opposite devonshire green

Thank you Mr Purple - it sounds fascinating - don't know if I even know where Burkina is, let alone Ougadougou, but it sounds wonderful - comfortable and educational!
What more could you want from a bed?!:)

I looked in there - I am interested in one of their beds - a really low oak one with a tempura matteress - sounds divine
patannbas 20-07-2005, 19:15 Love my bed too but can anyone tell me why is the bed or any bed come to that far more comfortable in the morning than it is at night when you first get into it. Also why am I more tired in the morning when I wake up than I was when I first went to bed. .Whoever invented the bed must have had a real mean mind.
My daughter is five months old so when she has a nap so do i and try and catch up on those late night feeds.
Nothing feels better than snuggling into your bed anytime of day......until she wakes you up from a deep sleep GUTTED !!!
spyro2000 20-07-2005, 20:46 I find that I seem to end up sleeping on the Settee every single night, cant remember the last time I actually slept in my bed.
nope. Only have a single bed as a small bedroom and so not the most comfiest. However, when its -5 outside my ardour rises
Henrietta 20-07-2005, 21:10 I luuuuuuuuuuuuurrrvvve my bed!
When I first moved into my own flat I had nowt but boxes of stuff. The first thing I was given was a ropey old double mattress. Comfier than the floor, so it did! :) I had that on the floor for about two years, then I aquired an old divan base - a bit creaky, but pretty good.
Before I became skint after giving up work to raise my baby, one of the big things I used the last of my saved dosh on was a new mattress :D It was twice as deep as the first one, is one of those 'Slumberland' ones and cost about £150. :wow:
When it arrived I was :o It was lush! And my son has great fun using it as a trampoline :heyhey:
Sometime last year I managed to score a fantastic double 'Airsprung' pine bed on eBay for £25! So now, six odd years later, I've finally got a beautiful comfortable bed. I love my bed. Always did when it was the shabby old mattress on the floor, but now - its just luxurious! :P
*Twinkle* 20-07-2005, 21:19 I love my bed!!! I'm in a 3/4 bed that was brand new cos I was the first one in the apartment. Its dead comfortable and just the right size for me and my boyfriend :) ~ Doesn't squeak either! :P
I appreciate my bed a lot, but recently I've been having sleep problems whereby I drop off just about anywhere... (In class/on the sofa/on Mum's sofa/in Dad's car) Its quite worrying as I get a full nights sleep but I still catch 40 winks if given half a minute of peace and quiet. Freaky huh?!
Its ok I guess. I sleep in it, thats about it.
Although i've been away alot recently so havent spent much time in my own!
luv it!!
when i got my own place i demanded of myself.....a nice leather sofa...and a big comfy bed. so i got myself a kingsize with deluxe matress. and its amazing! what makes it better is that i had a awful single bed with springs all messed up for so long...oh and being 6'4 my feet always popped out the bottom lol.
thats it...i want my bed NOW! :D
I love my bed.....and any bed to be honest....I could sleep anywhere....I guess I just luuuuurrrrrvvvveeee my slumber....;) ...not necessarily the bed!!
Mine is nice and comfy though and having just been on holiday...there's nowt like yer own bed!!
My bed is possibly the best place in the world.
I have a nice double Futon that can be turned into a a little settee to accomodate more people in social gatherings.
A lot of people think it's uncomfy sleeping on a futon but I love it and seems to do my back the world of good can't sleep on these really soft beds anymore.
I did does creak a bit when you get active on it, but think the slats are just a bit worn, lol.
The joy of beds :D
I just lovvvee my new nordic pine double bed (got from argos).all that space to myself is bliss.
I first seen my style of bed on a tv program (not saying what one as you all get the wrong idea on why i got it lol) and loved the style of them with being lowish to the ground. Its the best bed ive ever slept in and even 2 of my friends have them now as they so bliss to sleep on.
I love mine so much I never wanna get out of it..
Sadly, no work no beer tokens if I didn't each day :(

Why is that?
redrobbo 21-07-2005, 19:38 I have the best bed in the world. It's so comfy to sleep in. King size, with maple slats. I wish I could spend more of time in bed though!
Splodge_CRB 21-07-2005, 20:00 I don't sleep very much but my bed is my comfort zone, It's a monumental task changing the sheets tho. At six o'clock this morning I had to clear off a dozen newspapers- fifteen books- four notepads- three pens- two screwdrivers (no comments please!)- one plug- two fuses- two mugs- five lighters- six teeshirts- two bus tickets- one ashtray- one handbag- pair of work gloves- one apple- four sweetie wrappers and a few crumbs
All that in less than a week!
It looks lovely now but that won't last.......

Mmmm thanks for that, but not sure that I like the sound of YOUR bed - I am a bit of a clean crisp cotton sheet kind of girl and your's just sounds a bit too crusty for my liking! :gag:

Remember that feeling! I was always so tired! - Mine is just about turning 3 now - so I am over it now, but I can relate to it!
:)

 It's not crusty! I'm merely a little untidy.......;)
I love my bed, getting between the sheet and the duvet it just so nice.
My pillows look so inviting when it time for bed, I just sink in them snuggle up, breath out and relax.
i luv my bed too BUT, being the nice person i am i luv sharing it too ;)
Apollo_C 22-07-2005, 08:18 Its not so much my bed, as the fact that my lovely big tv is positioned right next to it, thus meaning weekends of non movement... :D

The Strix's bed (http://www.handcraftedbeds.co.uk/store/catalogue/productdetails.asp?l=5&pid=1)
We had ours made in double width/kingsize length because we knew we'd be moving house and such an imposing park-railing of a thing may not fit just anywhere if we had the full king size (and Mr Strix is 6'2", so it had to be extra long).
We were right. We saw a couple of houses we really liked, but being confronted with the foot of our bed when you walked through th e door.... :shakes:
It's quite hard though so it's good for regular sleeping but rubbish for wallowing in if you're ill :(
It's hardness has other merits too
PS - being on legs means there's plenty of boot-storage space beneath :D

Your problem redrobbo is that you spend too much time on the red subaru alert :D
pete_jim 23-07-2005, 09:04 I love my bed, even more since I got a Dunlopillo mattress. It's so comfy, harder than an interior sprung one but it's all natural latex with a cotton cover. It was dearer than an interior sprung one but cheaper than one of the memory foam ones.
I only like cotton sheets and duvet covers, usually white waffle ones from the White Company (great bargains when they have a sale), they last forever.
The cat has taken to sleeping on my bed more since I swapped the duvet for a lambswool blanket. But it's a bit too hot at the moment for her to get under the covers.
