I have just bought a 1994 XJ6 and have noticed that the oil pressure goes up to 4 (halfway) on starting up but after 15 or so minutes it gradually drops to 1 when I am idling and rises back up to 4 as I apply revs, where it stays until I am idling again. The oil light sometimes flickers on when idling.

Can anyone tell me is this normal or do I have an engine that is on its way out?
