Got this annoying electrical problem with my car.

I turn the engine on, and the lights come on (without me touching the light switch).

If I have the lights on, and then turn the ignition off, and remove the keys. The engine is still running without the keys in the ignition, and I can even drive the car etc. Soon as I turn the lights off, the engine will cut out.

I figure it must be a crossed / fused / touching wire somewhere. Is this something I can fix myself or do I need an expert?

Any recommendations?

Don't take this the wrong way but with that question maybe a trip to the garage would be a better idea!

Actually I've just fitted a new car stereo, and the porblems must have started around the same time, so maybe it's related?
