He's a midfielder, no way would he get in front Jame's Oconner :hihi:
Id love to see Anichebe but i just can't see it to be honest.

He's done nowt for Chelsea though, ive seen him play a few times now at the Bridge and believe me he drifts in out of game's more than a floater in the toilet lol :hihi:
Same with Deco and Sheva there on immense wages and haven't done buggar all.:)
Im expecting a lot from Malouda this season and fully expect Chelsea to pip Manchester United for the title this season.

i Been told its gallagher , not sure what prem club hes at tho

He's not exactly one to add thousands to the gate at S6 though is he - stats below...

Years Club App (Gls)*
2002– Blackburn 59 (6)
2005–2006 Stoke (loan) 37 (11)
2007–2008 Preston (loan) 19 (1)
2008 Stoke (loan) 7 (0)
2008–2009 Plymouth (loan) 40 (13)

59 appearances in 7 years at Blackburn isn't great, seems to be a championship player at best really? Though a decent effort last season for Plymouth.

It is depending on the cup game against Rochdale because BRIAN Laws wants to reach the second round of the Carling Cup to help pay for a new striker. The Sheffield Wednesday manager is currently in talks with a Premier League club about loaning a player to cover for injured strikers Akpo Sodje and Leon Clarke.

Victory tonight over Rochdale could secure the Owls a money-spinning second round tie and also boost the club's transfer kitty.

Laws has stressed the importance of tonight's game against the League Two club and vowed that any changes will not weaken his side.

"I will be making a few changes but I want to win the game," he said. "The game is on a high agenda, we need to get through to the next round. Financially for the football club, it is important we progress, which would release finances for me to strengthen the team.

"If we do well, I get more money. If I get more money, I can bring in new players and that is the aim," he said. "I spoke to both a player and his manager over the weekend and we are trying to conclude things as quickly as we possibly can."

Summer signing Tommy Miller is set to make his debut for the Owls after sitting on the bench for the opening Championship game against Barnsley. Defenders Frank Simek and Mark Beevers are also likely to start along with midfielder Sean McAllister.

"I have not got a big squad but I have a good squad of players and they all have fantastic league experience," said Laws. "Whatever changes I make should not weaken the side, in fact it could bolster it.

"I am not going in thinking 'I will rest a few and take it easy'. I want to win and I expect us to win. We are at home against lower league opposition – although they always make it difficult."

Things can't be that tight that just getting through the first round of the mickey mouse cup will bring in enough to sign a striker, surely?

Certainly makes you wonder how much extra they had to offer Tudgay to stay! With the situation with the debt etc making it probably not worth your while selling a player like Wood or Beevers (as the money would be swallowed up), would a player swap be workable - say Wood in exchange for a striker - even if only for a three month loan? It'd get you out of the current injury problem at least, until Soggy returns?

I'd like to see both managers selling a deal like Sharp for Wood to their fans :hihi:

your spot on about selling Wood or Beevers -no point as any cash would have more than likely have gone to the creditors and not benifit the club at all.

your point abot sharp and wood isnt as daft as it sounds ,as we need a striker and ,with Kilgallon not certain to stay ,you could well need a centre half -that deal could benifit both clubs ,even if it was a short loan swap

Yep, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas ive never seen him play but he sound a decent player.

Being named captain of the Under-18s at just 16 years of age speaks volumes about the ability and character of Jay.

A quiet, unassuming and well-spoken young man off the field, Mr Versatile is an athletic and extremely talented footballer on it. Jay’s intricate footwork, energy and powerful build ensure he is comfortable along the backline and midfield. And he is even partial to the odd goal.

He scored seven times in 39 appearances for both the Academy and Reserve teams last season – more appearances than any other young professional at the Club.

Off the back of his impressive campaign, Jay was rewarded with his first professional contract this summer.

When you signed him, we had all the comments from owls fans (not you that I know of, or Corker!) saying how he would be that experienced player you needed to play alongside the kids - seems like they were rabbits in the headlights in many away games last season? Purse is/should be to you what Morgan is to us - the older experienced head alogside the younger, faster prospect (Killa or Beevers). I don't think I actually said anyone at your place had actually said Purse is 'our rock' though... :)

The 'new' striker is talking to 2 other clubs beside Wednesday.
One of them's a Premiership club.
So that makes an imminent signing very, very, doubtful.
Unless the player's ruled by his head, rather than his wallet!
So that's a 'no' then. :)

With Purse seen as the experienced signing, and what Laws said he needed to add to the team, do you think he'll stick with him for a while regardless of if he appears to be struggling - or is Laws more likely to cut his losses and bring back one of the others to start instead?

Some managers will stick with these players almost to prove a point (that they pick the team, not the fans), is Laws like that?

It might depend on if he's going to be getting regular starts at the PL club - i'm sure Laws can pretty much guarantee a striker a starting berth for the rest of the season if it'll swing the decision!

No, I don't think Laws is like that.
If Purse doesn't become a rock, and have a similar impact that Mick Lyons and Nigel Pearson had at Hillsborough in the same position, then I reckon Laws will rotate them as he sees fit.
Dominating, commanding centre halves are not on every street corner.

It might depend on if he's going to be getting regular starts at the PL club - i'm sure Laws can pretty much guarantee a striker a starting berth for the rest of the season if it'll swing the decision!

Spot on!
Unfortunately, a lot of players are quite willing to warm somebody's bench for a fair few quid a week, rather than play regularly for a lesser wage.
The can't spend splinters in the snooker club, golf course, or in the bookies, they need money to do that.

He looked quite good on them youtube videos someone posted.
What happened you couldn't afford him?
he didn't want to come ?

He's come up north, to a very unfashionable club, so I reckon your first suggestion is correct.

the striker who we're chasing has the choice of going to a premiership club so Ngog would be a good guess
