This is a another walk thats been done in the past and is ideal for people who want to just do a short walk up the valley and back, and perfect for people who want to do the longer route up the beautiful Wyming Brook to Lodge Moor. From here we can either catch the bus back to town, or return down the brook and back along the Rivelin Valley.

The walk in total will be roughly 8 miles.

For people who haven't done this walk before, I think the Rivelin Valley section if done as a round walk is about 3.5 miles. To carry on up Wyming Brook to either of the Sportsman or Three Merry Lads Pubs at Lodge Moor is around 4.5/5 miles, with the climb up Wyming Brook being quite steep in places, and it can be muddy if wet.

The Rivelin Dam cafe I believe doesn't open till 10:00, but people wanting to meet there for breakfast before the walk are welcome to do so, as the walk will start properly at 10:45am at the side of the cafe.

Meeting Place:

For those coming by public transport or not wanting to eat at the cafe, I wll meet them at the Malin Bridge Tram Stop (near Towsure) at 10:15am (a tram leaves sheffield cathedral at 9:57am reaching Malin Bridge at 10:11am). We will then set off walking to the cafe to meet those who want breakfast there at 10:45am to start the walk.

Parking

For those coming by car or wanting to eat at the cafe you can park at the side of the road on Rivelin Valley Road ( for free) near the cafe. Please be aware there will be roadworks on that road over the weekend.

For those meeting at Malin Bridge Tram stop, drive past Towsure with it on your left and then pull into the car park on your left just after it. It costs £1 for all day parking.

Please state in your post which meeting point you will be at, as we don't want to miss anyone.

Can I ask that inline with future policy, can people make sure they are wearing appropiate clothing and suitable footwear for this type of walk, and also that they bring a packed lunch and a drink.

I hope to see a few of us on this walk.

Cheer's everyone for the praise, but I'll repeat what I said last time out its a pleasure to lead a group like our's round on a walk but all I did both weekend is follow a route. And I did have help from Eclaire leading me through Rivelin Valley a few weeks before hand, and Pops was fantastic leading us Wyming Brook, so thanks to both of you.

I agree with Mrs DJ, that Wyming Brook was fantastic, well worth the walk up the road to it, and the view from behind the Three Merry Lads pub wasn't half bad either.

See you all next week.
