Is it just me, or is one of the best records ever! I've currently got it on repeat, and I'm never getting tired of it. It's got such a beautiful melody. I'm not normally a big fan of Coldplay, but this song is terrific!

While Coldplay aren't a bad band they really don't do anything for me lyrics wise. Just not so keen on their writing style. I'll check this song out though.

I agree this song is good, but its not their best.

Coldplay are a top band and deservedly got the "Best Album or the Year" at the Brits.

1st album Parachutes was slightly better. IMO

These are real musicians who play real live music when on TV, not miming like some of the manufactured bands and artists.

They speak out about things that they believe in (whether you agree or not its what rock musicians should do) Agree?

They have given a large chunk of proceeds from this album to Charity

Chris Martin (Lead singer) doesn't do drink drugs etc and gives money to causes he feels strongly about, oh and he is going out with Gywneth Paltrow. What a role model the youth of today!!!!

I never meant to cause you Trouble.............

Parachutes is one of the best albums of its kind, definatly one to look back on in 20 years time and say "how good was that album!"

Having said all that I still can't relate to their music. The lyrics don't give me anything. I much prefer bio graphical and detail orientated writers. Is it me or do a few too many of their songs sound the same?

I agree the lyrics are a bit bizarre but the melody's great! I love the piano riffs, it just sounds so great! I didn't like it for a start either but it's really grown on me ad I think it's the best song that's been around for ages.

It should be number 1, but I highly doubt it will be.

The piano bit is great and it has been in an advert on TV recently, but which one, it's really bugging me! Can anyone tell me?

Its sods law that the advert (whatever it was) was on all the time and the minute I can't think what it is, it's not on anymore!

It was on the BBC's "Television - it's evolving" campaign.

Amsterdam is their best song by a long way.

It captures the emotion of falling in love near perfectly.

However Bob Dylan's Shelter from the Storm actually perfects this. "Come in she says I'll give you shelter from the storm"

Chris Martin can't sing to save his life. Seeing Coldplay live was so bad I am scarred for life.

For a singer with a voice like an angel check out the below link!

I agree. I have it as my mobile phone ring tone.
It's the hypnotic piano.

Although I would not say I am a great fan of theirs.

I have to disagree strongly. Although you are of course entitled to your opinion, but I think he has a great voice, is a very talented musician and when I saw them live it was fantastic.

As you are entitled to yours. His voice still cracks on high notes and his child has a silly name.

I don't think those two points are related :D

I think the problem with Coldplay is that they personify everything that is dull, whiny and boring about music. Every now and again i listen to their music and go "hey, its not that bad" and then a week later i start to think they are dull, whiny and boring again. Both times i've seen them live i had a good time, and yet i don't want to buy their music and i sure as hell don't want to sit in my bedroom listening to it. Maybe its just me being weird, i dunno.

Chris.

Who bought this back from the dead :o

I must say, I'm not a huge fan of Coldplay, but I do love Clocks, even now.

Do you know something I don't?

Firstly, to say Coldplay are rubbish oasismark demonstrates only your lack of vocaulary. To be unable to find just a little inspiration in all their melancholy and metaphor shows your lack of appreciation for quality. Whether you like their music or not, there is far too much depth to them to simply say they are rubbish.
Secondly, to Chris_sleeps, again, your assessment of them demonstrates not their failure to entertain you but your own failure to recognise artistry. Maybe you have a perfect life and live in a perfect world, if so, where do I get a ticket? If not, as the case is more likely, I suspect, then do you not listen to differing musical genres and bands depending on your mood? Perhaps when you are down or blue, feeling alone, then you might listen to a Coldplay tune and realise that you aren't alone, that other people have felt that way too and then you can feel a little better, knowing you're not the only one. You don't have to be fans, just acknowledge they have talent, even if they don't put it to a use you value or appreciate highly!

Lyrically and musically they are very talented and do speak out to me I have to agree, just wish they would change the singer.

Glad to see it helps you personally though. I think we all have a band that does that 'lift' thing when you're down. For me it will always be Morrissey, The Manics and Puressence that do the same trick.

What tosh. I listen to tons of stuff. To repeat myself aswell i don't hate Coldplay, they're okay, they just personify the problems with being "okay".

Chris.
