To answer the original question most A22 Churchills were built at Vauxhall's Luton plant but many were assembled elsewhere including at Sheffield. The earlier A20 was built by Harland and Wolff in Belfast. Sweatshopboy 07-08-2009, 15:31 In the book (Sheffield: Armourer To The British Empire) there is a photo of a Churchill tank on page 110, the caption states, The Churchill tank that stands on a plinth at the site of Newton Chambers' Chapletown tank factory. (D.S. Dalton). The tank looks in good condition but the photo is not dated. Nimrod 14-08-2009, 09:15 It was sold to a collector for restoration. It was driven up on to the plinth originally, the sump plug removed and revved 'til it siezed. Restoration should be relatively easy.
