View Full Version : Papa roach 14/10/09 @ 02 academy
cheesemaster 05-08-2009, 14:39 who is coming? i got my ticket this afternoon,
makes a change for academy having a decent band playing, than all the chav junk they have listed.
I always thought they were a one hit wonder, until I just checked their wiki page and have found out that they have been releasing albums fairly steadily for the last ten years!
cheesemaster 05-08-2009, 16:36 i would post a link to a newer song or vid, but youtube have copyright thing on so they all gone,
£16.50 a ticket anyway, + 2 support acts, madina lake, and heaven's basement.
cheesemaster 05-08-2009, 22:15 papa roach - forever

swordfish1 06-08-2009, 05:56 Saw Papa Roach earlier this year (april I think) in Manchester. Was a class gig. It's been a long time since I saw anybody put so much energy into a performance as Jacoby did that night.
Saw Madina Lake couple of weeks later at The Corp. Only went cos I had nothing better to do that night, they were loads better than expected.
And finally I saw Heavens Basement last week. I'd never heard of them before but ended up buying their CD at the gig cos I was impressed.
So all in all, should be a good night for me.
cheesemaster 06-08-2009, 10:43 somebody with taste,
apart from the madina lake comment, ewww lol.
leviathan13 06-08-2009, 11:12 Are they still going?
Blimey!
somebody with taste
You mean someone with your taste. Not quite the same thing. :hihi:
leviathan13 06-08-2009, 11:36 I always thought they were a one hit wonder, until I just checked their wiki page and have found out that they have been releasing albums fairly steadily for the last ten years!
Cliff Richard has been doing it for 50+ years!
It's not really evidence of talent that an artist has a bit of longevity. ;)
cheesemaster 06-08-2009, 12:59 sellout uk gigs say diff, this is the 3rd time this year they come to uk,
obviously they are in demand :)
swordfish1 07-08-2009, 00:56 apart from the madina lake comment, ewww lol.
Bad albums, damn good live. I was suprised. I've "borrowed" their albums and think they're a pile of......but you may get a shock when you see em. They'll be a hell of a lot better than Filter, who supported Papa Roach in Manchester
cheesemaster 17-08-2009, 21:31 i'm going v.i.p $100 about £60
JackM138 18-08-2009, 00:01 I'm likin' the gigs the Academy's getting lately
Twinkleton 19-08-2009, 12:24 I'm going!
Will be the fifth time I've seen Heaven's Basement, I swear they just get better and better ;)
X
all the chav junk?
i know there are a few chav related artists at the academy, it is a business after all and an artist that will sell out will play. But looking at their listings i thought there were few chavvy acts, there are way more indie/rock acts playing
sorry rant over
ill be there too, first time seeing them, also going to see massive attack, orbital and babyshambles there too. Academy over the next couple of months is looking pretty good...
cheesemaster 25-08-2009, 21:07 ian brown just announced to play in dec, think i'll go to that to, + 14 chav acts listed is not little, and i can't blame them, sheffs full of chavs so them gigs sellout.
