View Full Version : Why do male celebrities cheat?

What is it with our celebrity males? :suspect:

First David Beckham's sordid affairs were splashed all over the tabloids, and his supposedly "perfect" marriage has never fully recovered.

Then Brad Pitt's marriage to Jennifer Anniston floundered amidst rumours of an affair with Angelina Jolie.

And now Jude Law has betrayed the incredibly beautiful Sienna Miller by playing hide the sausage with his very average-looking nanny. :?

And it's not even just the attractive men who play away - just look at the philandering antics of Bill Clinton, or even our very own David Blunkett!!! :gag:

What is it with these men? Do you think the fame and fortune has gone to their heads? Or are all men unfaithful - and it's just that this lot are unlucky enough to be of tabloid interest? :nono:

More to the point does anyone care? People cheat, fact of life! Men and Women. Not everyone does though so you just have to find the right one. Personally, I just don't get involved with people unless it feels completely right. I'd prefer to wait years than be with someone that deep down I know I don't want to be with. So even though I have to wait for a long time, I know I wont cheat; never have done.

As far as famous people go, I couldn't care less as they have nothing to do with me. I tend to worry more about the action of those that have a direct impact on my life.

I think they do it for publicity.

I don't see why celebrities should be any different than anyone else, and most males that I know have cheated on their partners.

I have found that actors tend to do it more than most people, because they form very strong bonds when working with co-stars, and they can also be away from home a lot.

Hmph. Was actually aiming to start off some form of interesting discussion Andy78... Stem the Tuesday afternoon boredom and all that...

So if you're not interested in celebrities, you couldn't care less about what they do, and you're not fussed about discussing cheating, then why the hell did you come onto my post and be mean to me? Spoil sport.

Because some people feel better about themselves if they can put other people down. Usually those with low self-esteem. Not that I'm saying that is what's happening here... but happens a lot on forums.

Yes, that's probably it Snook.

I liked you're idea about famous people getting too close to their co-stars though. That does often seem to be the case. And these nannies seem to be very popular too.

Because they can is the simple and honest answer.

So are you saying that any man who 'can', will? Surely that's a bit of a generalisation?

Andy78 may be a bit of a grumpy bugger, but as he's just said, he's no cheater.

Male celebrities, especially ones like Jude Law, must have women throwing themselves at them all the time. Must be pretty hard to turn it down every time, especially with the male biological impulse to spread that seed...

So if women were throwing themselves at you all the time Greenback, would you also give in to the male urge to spread your seed?

the gras is always greener syndrome.

Male celebs have women throwing themselves at them every day. They also probably hardly ever see their other halves in cases with actors. It only takes one moment of weekness and they are splattered all over the tabloids.

Men are generally stupid when it comes to women. Usually because most interaction is controlled by the man downstairs

I don't think all men cheat, but they are all potential cheaters. It just comes down to opertunity and circumstances.

What do you mean "if"? Hang on a sec...

"Get off me Sarah, I'm trying to type. You too Deidre, I've told you before about that kind of behaviour, it's not appropriate in the workplace. Now Mary, look, I know that's it's quite warm in here, but that's no excuse to - "

Sorry, where was I?

You know exactly what I mean you cheeky scamp.

And we both know damn well that that the above piece of fanciful dialogue isn't true.

You don't know anybody called Deidre.:suspect:

I apologise if I sounded grumpy. Also I didn't think I was being mean to you. Just wondering why people care about a famous person that they don't know. I replied because it seemed to be aimed at males specifically. I don't think it's related to low self esteem though. It varies a lot, but at the moment it's quite high.

We've had quite a few debates like this in the past. As far as people I have known, there's a pretty even split of girls that have cheated and boys that have cheated. And similar to what Snook said, every person has the ability to cheat. Some people have control over it and some people don't. I've always figured that if you cheat then you're with the wrong person in the first place. So yes the sitution that 'cheater' is in at the time has everything to do with it. However, I'm quite happy to accept the possibility that I'm wrong.

If you cheat, you need someone to do it with do you not.

a lot of celebrity couples probably hardly see each other and the paparazzi are just waiting for them to be in a positionfor a good photo they can sell (see the News of the World front page of Beckham kissing a girl with headline "OH NO NOT AGAIN")

Turns out woman was getting an autograph but everyone NOTW stuck on front page of a 5 million copy newspaper so people form views.

Question - if you were given a open credit card, stuck in a shop and knew you could have anything in it. how long before you start to try things on.

Men AND women cheat, its a fact of life.

Flame comment time, can you honestly say throughout your life that you have never cheated, be it young or old, kissed, met, had sex, gone on a date with someone else other than the person you were with at the time.

If you have then congratulations you are probably in the minority.

I blame the gold - digging women who wouldn't look sideways at the same bloke if he didn't have the fame & money.
With some of em it's the only talent they'll ever have in em.

If some nice looking bird chucks her pants at you, you're gonna do the bizness aintchya?

 wikkid

1. We think with what’s between our legs.
2. Women are attracted to these types, Rich, famous and supposedly good looking. So if women keep flinging themselves at you all the time, you are more likely to fall foul and cheat.

That's it in a nutshell.

It takes two to tango, after all (or three if you're really adventurous)
