I'm trying to scan a photocopied sheet that is B&W and includes a photograph and text.

The photo always comes out with a crosshatched effect. I've tried colour, B&W and greyscale and it's always the same.

It looks to me like an interference pattern from the diffence in DPI between the scanner and photocopy, but I've tried a few different settings for DPI on the scanner with no improvement.

Any help and advice will be gratefully received,

Alastair

Does your scanner software have a setting for reflective or non-reflective media? Might be worth changing that if it does. If not, try whacking up the DPI to the max.

Any chance of uploading at least a part of it to show what you mean? I assume it's not just showing the limits of the resolution of the photocopying stage?

I've scanned printed stuff before that shows odd detail - it's interesting to see a colour photo at such a high resolution that you can see the individual pixels (a rather large photo in an arty book scanned at 1200 dpi). I also scanned an old photo recently that showed a hexagonal texture - by using a high enough scanning res and the right photoshop filters I managed to pretty much get rid of it.
