I've moved this to the pets group, where everyone who works with animal charities hangs out ;)

I hope you find somewhere to give your time and do some good :)

How old are you? Dont mean to patronise but many rescue centres are unable to take volunteers under the age of 16 due to the insurance problems.

Apologies if you are over 16.:D

itz ok, im 28, ive a job and a little boy and a dog and would like to fit some volantary work in inbetween my life!! i did small animal care at college many moons ago and worked in a vets practice for abit but then had a change in jobs as at that age i found the animal jobs too upsetting, but now im older it will be alot more rewarding for me, i love animals and would love to help in some way :) x

Great!! In that case we are always looking for dog walkers and volunteers who are happy to spend a little time with our dogs generally, they are cooped up in kennels and desperate for socialisation and stimulation. We board our dogs at Mosborough Kennels if you are interested then please let me know by PM.:)

Alternatively Thornberry Animal Sanctuary at Dinnington have a range of animals, horses, pigs, ferrets, rabbits, cats, dogs, birds all needing either walking, cleaning or cuddling. They can be reached on
01909 564399.

It sounds very boring compared to stables but Jackie at CATS at Firth Park needs in-depth cleaning doing.
She's had some offers but nothing regular and she so wants her sanctuary windows, doors etc to be cleaned regularly. Jackie has a long day and keeps the sanctuary wonderfully clean and tidy but is unable to give any more time to big jobs such as in-depth cleaning. There just aren't enough hours in the day. The sanctuary is a great place to be, but hectic. PM me if you need her number love.

I always need competent dog walkers around the Dinnington area.
Most of the dogs that I have in are large dogs - and need someone who is capable of walking that sort of size.

They would always appreciate being groomed - brushed, or even sat and stroked. Its not much to us people on the time to spare scale - but to a thrown away dog - it makes all the difference if you are in a kennel for 23 hours a day.

Ah, I would go down the Rainrescue route, Sophi. Rainrescue is right - dogs who don't know what they have done to deserve being discarded would really love the attention that you could give them. x

Hi
I asked a similar question on behalf of a friend a few weeks ago, so the replies may be of use to you too:
