I wish to buy a good quality non stick fry pan and I hear that Le Creuset and Fissler are good brands.

Are there any other brands I should consider?

Le Creuset are certainly heavy.I have a 10inch Tefal and the damn thing is now bent in the middle!

Le creuset are the business but pricy. I've got a couple of tefal ones with the red spot thingy in the middle and they seem to be holding up just fine.

Le Creuset. It will last you for YEARS.

Le Creuset are v good in general but VERY heavy, some would say they make the best Casseroles of all (as in the cooking vessel, not the actual food!).
They are not as maneuverable as I like for a fry pan personally (With a fry pan I flip, shake and hold at a tilt), the extreme weight of a Le Creuset is not suitable for this job in my household. I'd therefore go for the Fissler out of the two you mention.

Tefal do different ranges. The cheap ones are as crap as any cheap fry pan but I have a middle range chefs pan (basically a fry pan with a lid) I have found good for the money.

I'd go to one of the department stores and look at the different ones first hand, compare the weights, look at the quality of the base and you should be able to tell if you are looking at something decent. You can always shop online or look around the smaller outlets when you know what you want.

We have been using Ikea frying pans for the last few years and they are the only one I would use. I have tried much more expensive pans, but much prefer the Ikea ones. They do need replacing every couple of years, but they are cheap enough for that not to matter.

Thanks everyone.

I have an induction hob so perhaps the Le creuset might be to heavy for the glass hob, if I try and flip an omelette i might end up smashing the hob.

I'll have a good look around the department stores I think.

The search continues...

Other than Debenhams, Atkinsons and TK Maxx, which other shops should I visit to look at frying pans?

The cook shop in Crystal Peaks is good, pricey, but looks like good stuff. I haven't bought any pans from there, but was speaking to the staff about their advice on them and I remember he mentioned they had some for an induction hob.

I ended up buying a Le creuset frying pan from House of Frasers, they are offering 20% off so it was reduced from £72 to £57.60, a similar price to online suppliers.

Morrisons have got 30in frying pans on offer at £5 each - so I got two - happy if they last a year each at that price.

Did a tasty confit de canard avec pommes sarladaisais in them yesterday - just as good as if I'd done them in a pan 10 times the price.

Le Creuset definitely. We've got quite a few pieces, including a frying pan. The frying pan is excellent - you can fry an egg in it without oil and the pan holds its heat for a very long time.

You do need to look after your investment though; no scourers, no heating it up to the maximum setting on your hob and no rapid transfer from hot to cold or vice versa. As others have mentioned, it's also extremely heavy. If you go to pick it up in a casual fashion you'll do yourself a mischief! You'd need arms like Popeye to toss a pancake in it!

Have a look at Hot UK Deals as Le Creuset pan sets are often available at a reduced price. This is how we've built up our collection and have paid about 50% of the RRP for each item.

I find that Le creuset was too heavy for me and although good were too much of a faff. I now use Circulon, both fry pan, breakfast pan and large wok. They are very easy to without the faff of watching the heat all the time and being careful about temp. changes. You can also transfer them straight to the oven which is a bonus. I have a Neff glass hob and they work really well on this .I think that Le Crueset are fantastic for cassarole but way to heavy for frying and flipping.

I went and bought one on your recommendation - sorry but I think it is rubbish :(

Tried to soften onions in it, and they burnt straight away. Started again on a lower heat and it took forever. I will have to wait until I can get to Ikea as their pans are the best I have found, and I have tried far more expensive ones.

I would love to try le creuset, but with ME I wouldn't be able to lift them.
