yup i was on the north today, esijas should have got 2 if it wasnt for thier keeper, they had the first 20 mins but after that it even all the way,
the north looks wierd now, the family area lower north kop end has had 14 tv's installed and is the only area of the concourse which has been painted (gets ready for blades jibes about running out of paint)...nowhere else on the stand has tv's so everyone is gonna go there at half time, the new smoking area's are kop end on the RAMP!!!!! and away end from bottom of ramp right upto exit gates.

Gotta say Darren Purse need's to pick his game up or he won't even get in the reserves.

I agree, I thought they were poor.

What happened after the second shot from Esajas, I saw Robinson make the sve and Jeffers appeared to have an open goal.

Was this saved or did he hit post?

He got better as the game went on, but Beevers was far better last week!

Although I thought he played well today, I was less than impressed with Grays attitude towards Brian Laws after the second goal!

so at hartlepool they were talking rubbish then. said your not allowed to smoke anywhere on the ground premises, must be their own rules then

At the lane we have cigerette police :) patroling bogs everywhere for the smokers. Is this a ploy to attract more fans i.e the smoking population of sheffield:) or are you saving on policing costs?:) Joking.

In all seriousness are these lawful smoking areas?

in a word, yes. Look up the smoking ban laws. Somethin to do with the percentage of the enclosed space. Outside on an open ramp meets the criteria. Last season was due to the clubs own choice, legalities never came into it

I like it, lets hope other grounds have the same freedom. i consider myself to be only an occasional smoker, but want the freedom to choose and be able to smoke.

I'm a non smoker but as long as I don't have to sit or stand next to a chimney I agree with what you say

AFAIK the smoking ban still exists "inside the ground" where you can still see the game but if I'm wrong I'll stand to be corrected

Panthera

a smoking area can only have a maximum of sides, the designated area's within the north are completely outside,

Titanic: i got on the North cos i work there buddy, plus it was open for disabled fans and thier helpers

David82: some grounds introduced a blanket ban on smoking, which i think is wrong. the only problem i can see is the fact that the ramp at the kop end will get rammed with people trying to get past to watch highlights of the match aswell as smokers

your correct mate, the designated smoking area's are clearly marked with massive signs and arrows for directions

great double save by thier keeper, thier keeper looked well dodgy on long shots, you know like paddy kenny. If we 'd had more long shots with players following up we'd have got some joy i think.

1) I'm correct and its outside the viewing area as I thought or

2) I stand corrected because you can see the game being played?

As far as I know at the Lane, the rule is still that nobody is allowed to smoke anywhere within the 'stadium' which includes the back of the Kop in the open air.

I 'think' that 'stadium' is meant to mean 'areas where you must have a ticket', which would include the back of the Kop, and the open air areas of the South Stand before you reach the turnstiles from inside the ground.

Certainly though, the ban is only enforced in those areas which have a view of the pitch, from what I've seen. That said, few, if any don't comply in the stands anyway.

behind the kop at brammal lane would be an ideal smoking area for that section, its just little hitlers trying to flex thier muscles, why cant they just let smokers have thier own area's?, it would stop a hell of a lot of arguments

Thanks HH I thought I was right but as I only go in the "family" stand its all covered from the turnstiles to the seats so no smoking

I recall Chris Waddle having an absolutely dreadful pre season debut game against Rotherham (I think), the rest is history.

i think that was actually brought up, but was rejected under health and safety as it would have meant a crowd gathering where the exits are. although i have no idea where i heard that so it could be just a figmant of my imagination.

ive allways been on the family stand which has allways been a full ban on there since i started going so no difference.
