View Full Version : Owls problems up front?

Listening to the report on Sky Sports News, Clarke went off injured early, and now the sub Sodje has also limped off? Does that just leave Tudgay and Jeffers now?

Looks like Sodje's beaten his record of last season (getting injured in the first game), by getting injured before the first game! May just be a precaution to take him off, but emphasises the need for extra bodies up front?

Laws was only saying this week ,he was happy with his strikers -all four fit

i can see him having to try and get another in now, maybe on loan

clark went off to let sodje on. He was limping in the warm up but shook it off so he went on.

yep it was a good all round performance by wednesday, the strikers looked sharp, midfield solid the defence took about 20 mins to get going but after that they wernt troubled at all

Oh and i'll also add that i didnt even count Sodje in my pre season thoughts as i knew 100% he would get injured.

what a joke, ive heard of players being injury prone but this is ridiculous. its like we even rushed him back to fitness either, he had all of the end of the season and the summer to get fit but still gets injured!

dont matter where he went he's another injury prone donkey, time to get rid and use the money else where for a striker that can play more than 4 games a season!!

true, personally i'd do all we can to get Kevin Phillips in, if we're getting a few millions for transfers and wages i'd be tempted to almost put all my eggs in one basket and go for him, he'd be guarenteed to score 20 goals if he played a full season and he's not gonna be first choice for the brum this term

also he's scored at hillsborough that bloody often (usually in the last minute!) he shouldnt find it a problem in the famous blue and white!

neither can i at the moment to be totally honest but we've got to go in for these players if we're gonna have a serious go at promotion

I can't believe that BL is planning to start the forthcoming season with two injured strikers, and the enigma that is Jeffers.

Could it be that a loan striker is likely, or is he thinking of partnering Tudgay with Esijes? He's not gone to all the trouble of adding to the defence and midfield without giving serious thought to the strike force. The one thing that is certain, whatever his intentions are, he is not going to broadcast them to everyone and sundry.

MR BENN
02-08-2009, 13:51
i think he will have something in the pipeline .

Konwing how injury prone Sodje and Jeffers are ,i doubt he`d risk just going with the four, although he said last week he was happy with what he had and would only sign a striker if he git injuries.

kevin phillips must have had the most best and worst times of his career the last couple of years, gets wba promoted and then gets sold to a champ club, then gets birmingham promoted (with all his late goals) and looks to be coming back to the championship in one form or another lol

You are right there. i dont understand how people like Cameron Jerome gets a start ahead of Phillips. Jerome is not fit to lace Phillips boots

Because Philips doesn't last the whole game, he was used mostly as a substitute last season.

Because Philips doesn't last the whole game, he was used mostly as a substitute last season.

Actually last season he made 25 starts, and came on 13 times as sub.

He may not last the whole 90 minutes very often, but neither does Jeffers - and I know which one I'd rather have in my team!

I thought Jeffers looked pretty good yesterday, he look's like he may start up front with Tudgay against Barnsley.

out of the four ,only Tudgay has a track record of being injury free.

Sodje, Jeffers and Clarke have all missed vast amounts of games through re-occuring injuries.

They want to sign that Webb geezer and make him instant captain.
One of the best strikers around and we should be able to get him for pennies.
He's still available I think.

I mean in treatment and stuff- surely there must come a point whne you look to cancel his contract and claim off the insurance for him?

Jeffers and Tudgay are not the pairing that will fine you anywhere fast in this league- you need someone with a bit more class next to tudgay.

i agree , Tudgay cant do it all on his own ,and as we stand he is going to end up with a different partner every game ,as the other 3 are incapable of staying injury free for more than a couple of weeks.

that in itself is no good ,as we arnt going to get a settled partnership up front
