ok i am aware that certain sites like to protect their photographs & don't like Joe Public using them. However is there a way to get around the copy protection that is in place.( I have purchased certian items & would like to save copies of the product picture & profile in case i decide to sell it later.)

Failing all else, you could just save a copy of the webpage.:)
Or just turn off javascript in your browser if its a JS script ;)

hit prnt-scrn and paste it into mspaint, cut out the bit you need and save.
Cyclone's answer is what I tend to do when writing documentation for web pages, works well.
Also, won't the images be in your local cache?
Joe
Sometimes you can left click and drag the images off the page to the desktop or somewhere. Even if it uses javascript i don't think it's in a websites best interest to disable the left mouse button.
You could also browse your internet cache files (easier for IE than FF:().
