Some friends of mine go fishing in the river at the Wetlands (Woodhouse Mill). As far as I know, no permit or anything required.

A few useful threads (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=690082&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending&perpage=25&pagenumber=2)

(okay, you'll have to skip past all the 'for sale' ads, but you may find something useful ;) )

If you want to go fishing and at least catch something down at Woodhouse Mill then go to the joinery firm gatehouse pay to go on the pond. Think it's either 50p or a £1, the pond is down the public footpath to the right of the enterance. You have to have the permits extra. It is an oxbow lake and every time I have spoke to someone who has been there they have caught plenty although they may be small.

if you are an adult you need a national rod licence (£23.50 i think, Post Office) Don't be tempted to skip it cos if you get nabbed you'll get nobbled!
There are LOADS of places to go in Sheffield, where are you and what do you want to catch?
